Calling all talented, experienced designers for a project close to my heart.

I am putting together a website for one of my joys, my loves, my passions...metal detecting & treasure hunting. I've been in this hobby for many years. We're the 'weird guys' you see at the local park or beach looking for old coins, jewelry, gold & relics, lol. As such, looking for folks to throw their hat into the ring & help me come up with a logo that will become the 'face' of our website. Here's the details...

Name of website: TreasureClassifieds.com

Tagline: FREE Marketplace for Used Treasure Gear!

We would like our tagline (above) to be directly under the website name.

Purpose of site: TreasureClassifieds.com aims to be the #1 online marketplace for individuals looking to buy and/or sell used treasure hunting gear; metal detectors, dredges (for searching for gold in riverbeds & streams), pans (for gold panning), digging tools (knives, lesches), carrying pouches, books & DVD's, etc., etc. Additionally, we will also serve to educate our customers through articles written by industry pro's, videos & a daily blog. To boil it down, we'd like to be the 'craigslist' for used treasure hunting gear/equipment/supplies.

Type of design needed: We are looking for a memorable logo. Something with strong brand appeal. It should immediately say what we do & who we are. It should look good if it needs to be blown up or shrunk down in size. I'm open to designs with just words & designs with characters, pictures, avatars, etc. I'm leaning slightly towards the latter though. Again...something fresh, unique & instantly conveys our business. Careful though, we don't want anything too 'out there' or garish.

Here's a few keywords that best evokes the look & feel we're after...

excitement, thrilling, competitive, gold, silver, old coins, relics, jewelry, treasure, treasure maps, history

Prize: $50 cold, hard CASH $$$

Contest ends: This contest will run until 9pm EST Thursday night. At that time, I will then choose a winner & immediately make your payment via paypal.

**IMPORTANT** - Please be original. Be yourself. Don't copy or imitate a design someone else posted & throw it up online. We don't know what we want until we see it, so, just let'er rip!

P.S. - As we're still in the development stages with the website & are a few months from launch, there is nothing you can look at currently for inspiration. So, just use your imagination. It's better than anything we could ever come up with anyway

While I like what I see so far, nothing has 'popped out' at me yet. Remember, I need something bold, vivid, fresh, colorful, explains what we do in an instant. A little character person might be nice too. Again, don't know what will be the 'aha' design until I see it DEFINITELY need our tag line under the website. I'd like to see versions as TreasureClassifieds.com as well as just Treasure Classifieds

Okay, we're starting to make some progress guys

Let me throw a suggestion or two out there...

Matt & others, how about using an image of a treasure map somehow. It needn't be that large. Also, maybe a small 'X' drawn on the treasure map too.

Would be nice to see some fun designs in the mix as well. Another idea is gold coins or old coins, and maybe some gold nuggets scattered around the logo.

As a longtime treasure hunter, I've found coins that were hundreds of years old, jewelry, etc. Many hunters find gold nuggets, military relics, etc. Let's try & play this angle up a little bit. In other words, 'sell the sizzle'.

Matt, the font isn't bad - it's kinda cool - however, let me see some other variations. Try not to go as bright on the colors (just a hair more muted). Different color schemes too. I really like the font with the border as opposed to without

Excellent, Matt! I came across these maps online. Not sure if you can use them due to copyright issues, but, they're more what I'm looking for. Want a map more realistic in appearance like the ones in the following pics;

Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on another map now so it's more realistic.

Two quick questions : Do you like the treasure chest and What do you think about the other font I tried?

Not too keen on the treasure chest, Matt. What's on the map itself needn't be elaborate. Just something that makes it appear old & worn & a nice red 'X'. Maybe some lines like you put in your example. I like the picture of the skull in the link. The example in the first link is pretty much spot on.

I'm having a tough time reading the tag line too. Maybe a bit larger & bolder?

You're the designer my friend. Just PLAY with it. Experiment your heart out. Use my future business as your test guinea pig If it's not quite right we can do-it over. We're getting mighty close though...

Thank all of you who have posted your designs Everyone did an amazing job! Still mulling the logos over with my team.

Sammyloski, can I see that logo with the same exact treasure map (or as close as possible) that Matt0216 put next to his designs above the design that you put up? If you can put the two logos side by side after putting the treasure map above the word "treasure", that would be awesome - one like you have it now & one with the treasure map over the logo. Just so I can compare them together

Still have time to get more designs in, folks. Just under 28 hours and counting...
