Type of Contest: Logo design.
Prize: $100
Contest End Date & Time: Sept 30th 23.59 GMT+1
Size Requirements: horizontal logo - needs to look good with 250px width.
Color Requirements: We use on the site: #FDB024, #75CC4D, #59C4F1. Assume a white logo background, but we will need a version with dark background as well.
General Requirements: The text part of the logo is "vienna .net". This should be in the same type as the logo on Denmark.net | The Denmark guide to hotels, places and attractions, Denmark jobs, Danish businesses and more. - the font is Arial Black and Arial Regular. If needed I can provide the PSD of that logo. The important part is the iconic/visual component of the logo.

Additional Information:
This logo is for Vienna .net, which will be a tourism/information portal. Vienna, Austria, is famous as tourist destination. Its landmarks are the Stephans Cathedral and the Ferries Wheel, which could be incorporated in the logo.

To clarify:
[.......]
[.......] vienna . net
[.......]
^^^ This is the important part of your job. :)

The logo can be illustrative and multicolor as it will be mainly used on the web. However it should be clear enough to allow an abstraction which could be used as favicon or icon on the site.

The winner will need to deliver the logo in different sizes and formats, and with white and dark background color.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry if I was unclear.

The vienna .net part should be in the same type as denmark.net. There is no change needed there.

You have to come up with the visual/illustrative part of the logo on the left.

Hi tobiasr,

Your explanations are clear enough. You want the same font to be used as in the Denmark.net logo. I will work on this later tonight but I have some questions:

The Denmark.net logo has 4 smaller rectangles with small icons in them. The uniqueness in that logo is that the 4 red rectangles create the Denmark flag. When you look from a distance or when you look at their favicon you can see the flag clearly. The idea is good but execution isn't very impressive in that particular case.

The Vienna state has a flag too. There could be 4 different smaller icons which together create the Vienna flag. I'm just posting this so that another designer doesn't come up claiming it was his original idea. It is an obvious idea everybody can see from the example you gave.

1. Do you want the same idea to be used?
2. I guess you are also open to other ideas as well.
3. The Denmark.net logo has a reflection in the text. Do you want that reflection? Also the "net" part of that text is slightly narrower than the Denmark part. Does it have to be exactly the same styling regarding these minor details. I think we can do better than that logo.

Also if you want this to be a great contest could you provide feedback as detailed as possible about the things you like and you don't like in the entries that will soon start flowing in. Cheers. Erdinc

Tobiasr,

Knocked this up. Obviously Dark / White backgroun, etc can be changed. Approximated on the font, but again, let me know what it is and can be changed. This is just for general guidance and direction at this point.

Erdinc, thanks for this question. I don't need the flag, or the squares, or four parts there. :)

In fact, I'm doubtful that any design with the Vienna flag in it would convince me. I don't think it's easily recognizable as Vienna-related.

We wanted to keep the font the same (including the light .net) part to provide some consistency among the sites. However, I won't set this requirement in stone. I would prefer, unless you come up with a really great logo.

oliv3r.no1, thanks your entries, both of your proposals are too generic for me. I would prefer something more Vienna-specific.

Matt, I don't recognize the object in the image. :)

Thanks Erdinc; you have listed all the questions I had in my mind.

Pallas Athene Fountain Parliament Building
Vienna, Austria

Seemed fairly appropriate for the location :)

Thanks for all the entries!

Joidiamonds, it would help if you woulds spell the name right. :) But too generic for me anyway.

J-MAN, thanks, it looks too generic for me as well (more like Vienna soccer club :).

oliv3r.no1, I like your second proposal better, but I'd be concerned the photo is hardly recognizable in smaller sizes.

shizuo, this is definitely my favorite so far. I like the simplicity and that its immediately clear that this is about Vienna. Could you please try a version with the colors I gave?

Again, thanks for all your submissions. I really like the NP design contests!

Thanks, can you make it bicolor? For example the wheel in blue, the church in a different color?

Thanks shizuo. I will leave it for now, maybe we can fine tunes colors a bit in case I select your logo?

As a reminder, the contest ends Sept 30th, still some time to get your entries in. :) Thanks everyone!

Here is my version. Let me know which one is better and if you would like to see it in certain colours. Actually any comment will be highly appreciated.
The drawings are %100 original artwork created by myself. Cheers. Erdinc

Once again the competition is fierce. I'm wondering where Scorpio and Nodws are on this one. Scorpio is usually the early bird.
