Hi,

I am looking for a Header for a music fansite for a UK Rock Band Kasabian.

Main Text: Kasabian Download.com
Subtext: The Home for Kasabian Fans Online.

Winning design gets $25 paid by Paypal (contact me if you want other payment method)

End Date: November 7th.

Requirements:
The header needs to be approx size: Width= 810 px, Height= 180px (though height can be altered if it suits your design)

The colours needed are to be a Black background with main colour being Blue, with maybe touches of white or anything else you fell will work. The website is done mainly in black, the header is to be used to brighten the page up. I know Black & Blue is a hard colour scheme to brighten up but maybe some touches of other colours, layers...etc

I have no fixed ideas on what im wanting from this header so please use your creativity and dont be afraid to try things then i'll give feedback.

I know many of you wont know who Kasabian are or what type of band they are so i'll try and find a few Links to give you a better idea.

Type of Music: Rock & Roll (not really dark Goth or Heavy metal though) Rock Music you can party too, influenced by bands like Oasis , Stone Roses and a little by Glam rock like David Bowie, Slade, T-Rex..

Hi, here is my design. Not sure about the copyright thing. I incorporated a couple of images from the website. If you feel it breaches copyright, let me know and I will remove it. Perhaps you could supply a couple of images for the designers to incororate into the designs if you wish that are free of copyright. Anyway, using these images here is my design...

What a Brilliant start to the contest, only 1 day in and we have 2 great designs!!

Regarding the Image copyright issue: I think there will definetley be issues using images from the Bands homepage so i'll try and find somewhere with Copyright Free Images (any advice on where i find such images???)

Feedback:

ZeniusIVanisher: Nice simple design but looks very good. Obviously as i said above there will be copyright issues on the images used so that will need to change once i find some images you can use. I like the Text used with the red glow. My only criticism is that it may be a little dark, with the website being Black i feel the header needs a little more colour to brighten it.

hs143no: I really like this design, i think using the artistic style Images from the bands homepage as an influence works really well. Once again copyright is a problem, would it not be possible for you to create artistic style images similar to the ones used from the bands website gallery and use your own rather than using theirs? I like the colours used,the font and the splattered paint background, only thing about text id maybe suggest is making "Kasabian" a little bigger than "download" maybe.


I hope to find some images you can use today at some point if possible, please keep the designs coming.

you can try messaging the band about images. at often times, using their images is promoting their work, so they're usually all for it.

i'll revise it though once you get some more news/input on the images. glad you like it so far

Hi,

1 more thin i forgot to add in my original post: The Header can be either a flat image, an animated image or piece of Flash video depending on which area each designer wants to try. I dont have my heart set on any type just now and will just choose whatever heade looks best.

I have Emailed the bands website to see if the images displayed on their gallery can be used but i have no idea how quick they will reply.

I've been searching for some images you can use without any copyright problems and will add the link below once i find more sources.

Hi,

I have been trying for the last 2 days to find Images of the Band that can be used in the Header design without any copyright issues but have been unsuccesful so far.

I am still waiting on hearing from the Bands website is they will allow me to use their images but i dont know if i will get a reply anytime soon.

So unfortunately it looks like anyone wanting to design a header for this contest will need to do so without using any Copyrighted images, i'll leave it to all you talented designers to come up with some ideas.

Nice Work Veckd, glad to see somebody using entirely their own image to avoid copyright problems.

Could you try a few different combinations of colours for the Text, maybe a hint of blue. Could you try using amore Square Text for the "Kasabian DOwnload" to see if that helps at all.

One last thing, would it be possible to add a microphone into the design for the band? I donk know how easy that would be but think it may just confirm its a music site a little more.


Overall though i really like it, as it is a little bit different that anything so far then it maybe takes a bit more getting used to but i do think its great.

veckd: I think your 1st attemp was the best design, i was wrong about the square text or making text blue as the 1st design looks much better to me.

Regarding the microphone, where i was thinking of it being added is next to the lead singer of the band. Have his arm holiding a microphone with the wire trailing. (dont worry if adding the microphone in this way isnt possible as i sstill really like this design)

hs143no: Unfortunately i dont like the revision. I dont think the Images work nearly as well as Images from the Bands site. The Images from Bands site look much better quality i think.
Regarding the Text: I prefer the Text size from your 1st design, i know i said to try it bigger but it looks best on design 1.

Justin1: I really dont like the Text used, think the design look a little amateur. Also i think the Images you have used are Copyrighted so i wouldne be able to use them on my site as i dont want to risk any Copright/Trademark trouble.

Sorry if all that sounded very negative but i think honesty is best on these Design competitions rather than having people making revisions on a design that wont win.
