For some reason, when people request for domains w/ specific requirements, or is selling a domain or buying a domain, there are lots of people who refuse to actually read the thread (initial post) before posting junk.

I think it would be great that the topic starts should have the ability to delete (or even edit?) posts in their own thread that does not apply to the thread or entirely off topic. For example of forums that really really need this ability, look in the Marketplace.

I think this would really help out in the "Domains Wanted" section...

I personally think it would be easily abused.

Sometimes people make very acceptable responses but might not be what the seller wants to hear, is it ok for them to just go and delete it or edit it (which could be open even more abuse) t stop anyone seeing what was posted.

I can understand your thoughs about editing your own thread, but I agree with filth, this would never work, to many people would use this option in a the wrong way.

This idea could also cause problems with auction threads, I suppose, although I agree that extraneous posting is quite tiresome.

This could cause a lot of "fraud". Say Member1 posts a domain for auction. Member2 posts a bid of $20. Then Member1 edits the post to say $50 instead of $20.

Not only could the seller try to get more from member 2, but Member3 may come along and bid way more because of the falsified bid.

True true, its just one of those things that well, since the mods cannot keep up with the every single post there is to make sure that the posters actually obey the rules and stay on topic... for example the "Domains wanted" forums, alot of replies have nothing to do with the post, or the repliers havent figured out how to read..... thus post anything they want..

in the left box below someones name there is a symbol like a road traffic sign.

If you think a post is going against the rules of the board simply press that and it will alert mods and admin to the post.
