I know this is a sensitive topic, but I must ask someone.

In religion class I have been taught that God created everything and he created everything good.

My question is. How was the devil created and why is he not good if God created everything and everything good.

Second question is

I was also taught God planned everything. So God planned for people to do bad? Also he planned for Eve to eat the apple?

Those were just two questions I keep asking myself over and over again. I even asked my religion teacher and her answers dont answer anything. She just makes up something that comes to her head. I would be glad if someone could answer or clearify things for me.

Crazy, you must learn the liberal dictionary:

Open Minded: Adjective;
To push your ideologies on everyone else so they are forced to accept your ideas and feelings and forego all other things, including truth, justice and the American way.

Brilliant!

Stubborn: Adjective;
To resist those who push their ideologies on everyone else so you are forced to accept their ideas and feelings and forego all other things, including truth, justice and the American way.

well, I could use

Ignorant, but then that would be way too obvious and way too many people would automatically assume I meant you.

It's not worth throwing the insults either way.

People can't seem to handle themselves properly when it comes to religion so we might as well close this one down. I'm tired of hearing that I force my beliefs on anyone when I discuss religion - I make it a habit not to force my beliefs. If you want to spend your lives stereotyping everyone you meet then by all means go right ahead.

Anyways, for anyone who wants to talk religion anytime feel free to PM me or anything. I am open to discuss, but please keep your insults to yourself.

This is how all religious threads end up. It goes on and on back and forth "you're wrong" "no, you're wrong" then it accelerates to "you're stupid" "no, you're stupid" then "you insulted me" "no, you insulted me" and so on and on and in the end nothing whatsoever is accomplished besides some good insults (and some of them ARE good insults, so it's not a total loss, I guess).

It's too bad. It's a good topic. People just can't seem to handle it.

uhh.. considering the extremes (heat/cold/radiation/lack of food sources/oxygen/water) there is no life in space :o

but it you mean other planets.. well I am doubtfull of it, but who knows.

I get stuck with one Bible Passage there:

(paraphrased from memory)
"For the Lord made the stars in the heavens for life."

interesting paragraph

Well considering that the galaxy, the solar system, and the earth are all in space I would say the chances of there being life in space is 100%. The chance of there being intelligent life are questionable.

Isn't it a sin to misquote God? Even if it is just a paragraph, er sentence.

I don't hate you Lee, but I can appreciate how someone of your principals would interpret as hate any attempts to use logic to reach a conclusion that might be critical of America or the religious right.

logical and liberal are oxymorons. (look it up ;))

I don't see how you can say that “logical” is an oxymoron. Perhaps we should look up the definition of oxymoron while we're digging through the dictionary :)

Nevertheless I understand what you were trying to say. And, believe it or not, I agree. You can not be logical when you have a liberal bias any more than you can be logical when you have a conservative one. You can only be logical when you are willing to weigh all the options and choose the best course of action regardless of what you were trained to believe.

errm wut about 'predestination'. the idea that god knows everything. therefore he knows who will be saved --> in heaven.

Predestination is indeed the idea that God already knows where you're going - and he does. However, the predestination of years ago let certain people choose who was going where - thereby making some people think they're God. Naturally the important and influential people went to heaven and the outcasts went down below with this system.

However, only God knows where we're going. The choices are laid out in front of us in life - we're free to make our own decisions. He is a free-will God. But in the end, God already knows the decisions that we make.
