Communicate.com, which owns 1100 domain names, recently rejected a $6 million dollar offer for the domain Cricket.com.

The company turned down $6M for Cricket.com because it wants to develop the domain. ESPN paid $35M for CricInfo.com, a leading cricket site.

I wonder how that might compare to a domain value for something like Baseball.com? Anyone know what that domain might be valued at?

I bet if they offered 1billion they would have done it. You would be stupid to turn that down.

I think that was a very good and carefully studied rejection. Cricket has much more money in it now. And even if some of the top player wants to buy it then he can easily get the domain name without putting too much strain on his resources :)

Therefore, consider what full cricket boards can offer for that.

The current page of cricket.com is terrible. I doubt the site will fly high with such management.

I think it has more value as the sport of cricket.

Much more money in this domain, if they 'successfully' develop it.

Cricket is a Annual Multi Billion Dollar Industry, especially in India.

No wonder a $6M offer was rejected.

Recently, in India huge money was put by top companies, and celebrities to pick up the Indian Premier League Cricket Teams.

Reliance Industries Chief Mr.Mukesh Ambani placed a bid for the Mumbai team for $111.9 million and got it. The liquor baron, however, won the bid for the Bangalore team for $111.6 million.

Looking at the above bids, cricket.com will go for $xxx Millions for sure, just imo. :)

It will get 3-4 times that amount if it was developed. Cricket.com generates organic type-in-traffic.
