I joined here years ago, saved the site and have been living the dream :)

I am trying to obtain a domain from a person that is in Moscow,,,so emailing has been touch and go.
He is willing to transfer the domain, so I paid Godaddy $7.00 to facilitate the transaction for me. I keep on getting a email from Godaddy stating they are not getting any response from the registar. The owner of the domain says he will call them this week
Has anyone dealt with this registar?
The domain expires near the end of march,,and I can get it then, but would hate to have someone else grab it, lol.

Any input or ideas would be appreciated,

Bill

Regtime (webnames.ru) is one of the oldest/largest Russian registrars. Sometimes it's a bit slow when it comes to transfers. If you have a russian speaking person in Moscow to talk to them over the phone you dont need to worry much - they will settle everything for you but it may require a couple more days in queue.. Were you provided with domain auth code?

Thanks for the reply,

Godaddy states they sent the owner theauth code,,I did not receive it.I started this 2 weeks ago,,The owner states he was confused with Godaddy instructions,,again it may be a language barrier.

Do we have anyone on the board from Russia?

Bill

first of all, the owner should forward transaction ID/Security Code he got from Godaddy via email to you, and you need to enter this info into Godaddy Authorize transfer interface form.

Then the owner should request Auth code from Regtime (can only be done via their customer support form on their site by logged in domain owner), send it to you, a you need to enter it into Godaddy transfer interface form (Auth code is different from transaction ID/Security Code as the latter come from Godaddy and the former is from current registrar)

me :)

added:

if i understand your current situation correctly the delay has nothing to do with Regtime - they in fact even have not been contacted by Godaddy because you actually have not initiated the transfer with Godaddy Transaction ID/Security Code and Regtime Domain Auth Code.
Heres a link to Godaddy instructions which covers the topic pretty well: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/1592?prog_id=GoDaddy&isc=gdbbc2

Godaddy sent the current owner an email like that (copy-pasted from their real recent email):

"Re: Transfer of YourDomain.com

Dear Admin_Contact,

Go Daddy received a request on mm/dd/yyyy for us to become the new registrar of record.

You received this message because you're listed as the Registered Name Holder or Administrative contact for this domain name. If you're not the Account Holder, or you're transferring the domain to a new owner, please forward this email to the appropriate Account Holder to complete the transfer process.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
IMPORTANT: If the steps below are not completed, the domain name(s) listed above will NOT be transferred to us.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When authorizing this transfer, you'll be prompted to provide the following Transfer IDs:
Transaction ID: 123456789
Security Code: 987654321
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"

Let the owner know you need both ID/SecCode to proceed on your side. Ask him request Auth code from Regtime as well - upon having all (3) ID/SecCode/AuthCode you'll be able to push the things further via Godaddy interface (just read the instructions)..
..and as a rule Regtime sends Auth codes by email next business day after it's requested by the owner

good luck

UPDATE: www.kapy.org

I wanted to give a big shoutout to 4pm, who helped me facilitate the transfer of this domain for me! There was a issue with communicating with the person in Moscow and he just took the ball & ran with it. You made a total hassle of a process into a super easy transfer.
If & when I can help you in anyway please don't hesitate to ask!

Now to get the website built! Do we have web site builders here that specialize in Wordpress?
I already have the template we used on another station project,,this site will clone the other, just with change of name, location, etc

Here is the site that will be cloned.
