Hi I have a domain name I want to register which is a .com domain name.
Im in Australia and here we need to be able to prove that the domain name will relate to our business etc.
The domain name i want which is .com, i want to know if I can register and park it in the USA?

ANyone got any ideas if I will come up against any red tape so to speak, or is their any bridges I need to cross to get this done or can I just DO IT?

Also anyone got any suggestions who I should do it with on the CHEAP CHEAP $$$

Thanks in advance....

There are no country restrictions for registering .com domains.
Or are you referring to government regulations?

The laws are for .com.au names. I'm australian and I have hundreds of .com names. Yes you can buy a .com name and park it in the USA.

If you are talking about parking .com.au names, forget it.

You can register a .com name without any restrictions in Australia, the restrictions only apply to .*.au names (.com.au, .net.au, etc). Just be careful to avoid the Australian registrars - they charge way too much. Pick a decent international registrar/reseller and you'll only be up for $7-10/year. Check the huge GoDaddy thread for discounts there, or try NameCheap, Moniker, or even right here at NamePros. ;)
