Registering .travel allowed ?

Wherever i go, i seem to read that registering .travel domains is not allowed. it says i would need to be involved in the travel industry and submit some proof to have my .travel registered.

However, Moniker.com lets me register .travel domains without any proof or anything. Maybe .travel organisation has removed their restriction of companies ?

Anyone care to confirm ?

Does your name appear in WHOIS and does it resolve?

I havent registered it yet, but moniker takes me to the last step of shopping cart checkout which means i can stil register .travel

Well, just tried registering one lets see if it works. Maybe Traveliance is so desperate for customers.

Made up a UID . I will laugh though if it goes through.

I dont mind doing that too, but i am scared if i will lost the 130$ if they decide to take the domain name back from me.
Have any such complains surfaced from anyone ?

I don't think that registrations are live so my guess is that this is just an application, not a registration.
Normally the registry should review the application and determine your eligibility
If you pay in advance make sure refunds are granted in case your application is denied.
