I went and registered digit.tv after getting a high $xxxxx offer for digital.tv from a U.K. company.

Im not planning to sell the domain in the near future but I thought that digit.tv would be a good addition (as it could be short for DIGITAL, digittv.com is registered from 1998) to the collection of digital.tv, cable.tv and stream.tv. Have recieved numorous offers for all 3 in the last 4 months.

Just my opinion but high $xx,xxx for digital sounds like a good price.

You probably know what to do though.

Digit is completely different and not even in the same league.

Did you reject the High XX.XXX offer or are you dealing with them?
It's always good to hear about this kind of offers.

Yeah I know its in a different league, its just that I wanted to have all the various variations and shorts for DIGITAL, I guess maybe its a waist of money but I think that the buyer of DIGITAL.TV if I ever decide to sell it instead of doing a project that me and my partner had in mind, would appreciate the fact that he would be getting DIGIT.TV with DIGITAL in a package deal. And I like having it too, because I would feel kind of stupid for not registering the domain if we start our planned project and somebody else registers digit.tv and start something similar.

Nope, I didnt tell them no, its just that I didnt get the domain just to flip it in a few months, of course it would be a nice flip, but that was not the main idea and I still think that the domain is worth more (Im not greedy, dont get me wrong) and was very under valued at the auction by the bidders. TV's and TV channels (Cable or regular broadcasting) all over the world will be going DIGITAL sooner or later.

Thanks!

I did the same with Cable.tv and Phone.tv and JUST in CASE purchased fone.tv (should renew it... old CC on the account) and cabletv.tv through Sedo.

Well to me lets say for example a domain like stream-tv.de is worth $ REG FEE, but it was sold for 12000 Euro through Sedo last week, its just a matter of who wants what and who is willing to pay for it, so I wouldnt take anybody's advice or appraisal to close to the heart as for some (like you) digital.tv can even be worth a price of a Subway sandwich , but to some other people or company's that offer Cable or/and Digital tv its a domain worth owning even for high $xxxxx after it was purchased for $11K a few months ago. You can see a lot of appraisals for domains that could go up to even high 6 figures if the interested party really wanted it and the seller was playing hard to get or was not interested in selling, that would not be worth even $10K to you or me, believe me I have seen it happen a lot of times even in Russia with the .RU zone. I have a buyer now for a .RU domain name that is willing to pay over 200K !!! ($200K was his last offer ----- that went up from offer #1 that was about $20K 4 months ago) for a .RU domain name that the owner does not want to sell. The domain would not be worth even half that price for the .COM version but the buyer wants IT AND thats THAT! :))) So we keep trying to get it for him, but its a NO deal with the owner since the guy is really religious and says he does not need the money :) Well I have the highest respect for people of religion but I think of all the people or homeless kids that this guy could help out in his church or town (He is not from Moscow) with that kind of money ...... Well its not my domain, but this guys position annoy's me to hell and back :) >:(

So its all really a matter of opinion and situation that certain names like for instance stream-tv.de can sell for 12K Euro or VIP.COM with traffic of 400 uniques a day could sell for $1.2 Million $$$ :hehe:

^^ congrats on the foresight to invest big bucks in digital.tv but unless you plan to turn it into the money-making machine I can't understand form the reseller point of view why making a huge ROI on such great figure is not for you now. Why are you not selling it, such a generous offer may never come if that company settles for an alternative?

And I will not pay more than low XX.XXX to have "La Gioconda"...
As cabletv said the value of a domain it's what a company or a person is ready to pay for it.

Seems like a good offer to me but of course it might always get 'gooder' -and it depends on your own circumstances of course - seems like an excellent name though. How did they find you ? Through Sedo or by looking you up on whois ?
