Register.com Wins 'Excellence in Technology Award'
1st February 2006

Company's customer service program awarded by Small Business Computing for its commitment in offering superior customer support.

Register.com, Inc., a provider of domain registration and web business services, yesterday announced that its customer service program was awarded the 'Excellence in Technology Award' by Small Business Computing, a division of Jupitermedia, for the company's commitment to offering superior customer support.

According to the company, the win further establishes Register.com as an innovator in the field, receiving its third acknowledgement for outstanding customer service in less than one year. Register.com also received a Small Business Computing Excellence in Technology Award in the web hosting category for the company's unique 'Build-It-for-Me' service.

"Register.com has the best customer service team in the industry." said Monica Hodges, General Manager of Retail at Register.com. "We appreciate the recognition from Small Business Computing's readers. Register.com continues to improve the process of serving our customers, providing them all with the time and attention they need to run their business effectively."

At $35.00 a domain I would expect customer service to be really good

I have only got one domain with them that I won in a drop - It took about 6 emails, 4 people and 4 phone calls from me to sort out one of their mistakes.

Needless to say I am not impressed ! :td:

Lol what about Network Solutions with similar pricing structure ?

Aren't they the ones who charge $200 or somewhere along those lines for an ownership change? lol Sounds more like extortionist rather than excellence.

in this forum 2 registrars regularly come up with an excellence rating (including good value) from significant numbers of domainers: GD + NC. Register.com is hardly ever mentioned.

Register.com is lucky that it targets small and meduim sized businesses looking for a website that do not already have one. If they competed in the same market as GD, NC, et al, they would not have lasted as long as they have. They can get higher prices for their domains becuase their market, by and large, does not know any better.

...and the source of that info is DirectI. I'm surprised they'd hype up register.com, but then again DirectI's prices are a fraction of what register.com charges so maybe they just posted it up because they aren't really viewed as a competitor or they are really unbiased.

I was curious to see how much they charge for a .com, but they make it really hard...you have to register first...I hate these websites that hide the prices till the end of the buying process.
