Reg'ing DN and then selling to end user question

Hey there,
:hi:
This is my first post - I am yet another person getting into domaining.

My first question is - do many people reg domain names and then offer to sell to an end user (for a profit?)

I came across a cluster of 3 great DNs that are industry specific. The DNs are superlative generics which I estimate would benefit from significant type-in traffic.

I just reg'ed the DNs and set them up on Sedo to test for traffic. But, I was thinking of offering the DNs as a package to several big sites in the industry.

Do many domainers do this? I think if I were to do this I would write a convincing email and mention the proliference of type-in traffic.

Can anyone offer me any further advice about this particular strategy?

Thanks!

There's no such thing as a stupid question IMO... yes, many domainers will reg a domain, then offer it directly to an end user. That's one of the primary reasons for this forum, to discuss such matters.

Seeing as you've already regged these domains, maybe you'll want to post them here to get a few appraisals and comments (Appraisal section of the forum).

No it's not a stupid question ;)

Some threads just get lost in the shuffle. Here is a long thread on finding/approaching End Users :
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/68798-how-to-find-potential-end-users.html

The idea is a good one - But you have to realize it's being "over done" for the most part now a days. It is often better to use Real Mail (Snail Mail) and phone calls to contact them as they are hit with TONS of email each day (Aren't we all ?).

Good Luck with your ventures :tu:

No, but perhaps one for the New Members section. No big deal though, it's all about domain names in the end!

You seem to have the domaining lingo down, (reg'in, DN, end user, etc.) so I'd say you're off to a good start.

When people don't answer your questions, it's a good sign that the answer is already somewhere around here. Just doing a quick search for "contact end user" yielded this amazing stickied thread:

Very informative thread with a lot of good opinions.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

By the way...what names did you register, if you don't mind my asking?
