Regging a VIP name

i have a question for you guys: can be regged a domain name which represent the name of a public personne, eg www.sandrabullock.com if it wasnt regged?
is that safe? are there any possible issues?

I don't see where you've done any wrong. I actually agree the poster could've
saved him/herself time by researching some similar threads around here.

Anyway to the OP: you can register any domain name you want. It's your intent
to use it that'll really matter.

I'll give you a hint: imagine you're a well-known celebrity, someone registers the
domain name-sake, and puts PPC ads. How would you feel about it?

Dave, if the celeb didnt do it themselves before hand then they are stupid. And at the rate at which they make money i dont they will throw a fit about a few PPC ads.

Perhaps. But it doesn't change the reality not many celebrities are even aware
they need to register their own domain name-sakes to prevent that sort of thing
from happening.

The past year indicates many are catching on.

Well of course. I agree that celebs are pretty much unaware of the domain market. But i do not think that we should feel bad about regging their name.

We aren't discussing "feelings" (Although I think that many should be embarrassed by the complete lack of tact in some registrations; It gives the rest of us in the "industry" a bad name.), rather the likelihood of success should a celebrity or other TM holder seek to gain control of the domain through UDRP or legal action.

Yuor best advice ever here........

use the search box and type in "trademark" and read for a week... then type in "tm" into the box and read for antoerh week (to catch all the posts that do not use trademark. Then for good measure, type in "celebs". This should cover each and every question you have.....

You are not correct with this statement, you are still incorporating a TM within the domain name which is TM infringemetn, but as with any domains, it is the usage that would determine bad faith.
