Politicians trademarked?

I hand-regged a domain that is a popular nickname (that includes his name) for a former president. I got the .com, the .net, .org, and .info were taken. The .com has been regged and dropped before. My question is, are there any potential trademark issues associated with this?

Both the .net and the .org are owned by the same company and have Error 404 pages when I try to go to the page, which makes me wonder if they had to take something down for some reason.

Also, is there any reason not to post the name of the site here? People seem to be secretive with site names and I was wondering if there was any reason for this other than protecting an area they are working in.

Yes a celebrity / politician's names are there trademarks wheter regged or not.

Most people do not post names here because of legalities that include public discussion about a particular name and any comments you use may be used against you in legal proceedings.

I could be wrong, but politicians' names (US-based, anyway) don't necessarily
become trademarks if they aren't used in commerce. Does running for public
office qualify as a commercial venture?

Maybe one exception is Hillary Clinton since she authored and sold books.

Politicians and celebrities are not the same. Celebrities are considered TMs because they make a living off of their name. Politicians on the other hand are public servants and are not provided the protection of a TM. The problem comes in where a politicians has other ventures which may afford him TM status. If they published a book or was on a lecture circuit where people pay to see the person talk. Or if they were a celebrity before they took office (Sonny Bono, Arnold), they may be afforded protection. As always, usage plays an important part in determining good/bad faith

After a little research myself, I think I'm safe with the site. I'll probably auction it anyway since I have too many other sites I'm thinking of developing at the moment.
