Hello.
Please kindly advise me on the best domain name registrar to use as i am praparing to start domain name business.

I have read some scary but also good things about Godaddy.

Kindly advise on the best domain registrar you will recommend which also gives discount just like godaddy but with no underlaying shady T&C.
Thank you..

Namesilo.com

Best security hands down. 2 Factor authentication + personal security questions. Free whois privacy.
Not much in the way of discount coupons, but reg and renewals cheap compared to other registrars.

Godaddy Bigrock NameCheap Dotmakers (for multiple reasons. example: namecheap has easy bulk nameserver change, .io is cheapest there, etc. godaddy is the best for all reasons. just not aalways on pricing for certain names. bigrock runs deals on certain extensions always(or al) .org is cheapest there i believe always. Dotmakers because its like godaddys mainfram and easy to use(although i never reg'd there)
For new users, i wouldnt feel comfortable recommending anywhere except Godaddy. As you learn you will figure out why people use different ones.
oh by the way NEVER USE 1AND1 .COM - EVER - THEY NOT ONLY HAVE THE GD WORST NAME SERVER OR ANYTHING CHANGE(CANT BY BULK), THEIR SERVERS ARE SLOW AND THEY ARE SCAMS. (HAVE A ConsumersAffair report filed against them and it was approved, so obviously i wasnt far off base.) anyways, welcome to the world, im here if you need any help feelf ree to PM me.

You should have Godaddy as others said, Uniregistry is a must have in my opinion. Support is great. You will end up having accounts with most registrars and that is a good thing since we know personally how each of the user experience is. You will get an idea after that as to which is the best one to have most of your names with.

.....oh by the way NEVER USE 1AND1 .COM - EVER

I cant agree more. After learning the hard way over 10 years ago, I will never use them again

If you don't give up right away, you'll soon have an account with more than one registrar (because discounts, ease of the intra-registrar push etc.) so you might as well use more than one registrar right of the bat.

Something to consider:

- GoDaddy: Kinda must-have because everybody (i.e. end users) knows it. Also, cheapest for .COM hand reg's (w/ coupon codes). Also, popular expired domains auctions.
- NameCheap: A lot of different kinds of discount campaigns throughout the year.
- Dynadot: Probably my favorite when it comes to UX. Great chat support, too.
- NameSilo: @Robozy already mentioned this, agree w/ everything he said.

There's horror stories with every registrar because domain industry is what it is.

P.s. Try to avoid 1 & 1.

GoDaddy to avoid high hand registration costs with coupons as well as their expansive auction selection.

Once you have a decent portfolio built, slowly transfer them into Uniregistry.

Though, it's always good to have an account at all registrars so that you can easily make a purchase from another domainer. After which, you can consolidate to your favorite.

Namesilo because I don't have time to waste hunting for coupon codes.

I use namecheap and like you, I heard bad things about godaddy, so I avoided registering domains with them, but those coupon codes for handregs are so nice.

Namecheap has good security too.

Thank you all for listing some more registries, I will have to try out namesilo.

I had a few issues with them.

Any chance you could post some details so that others know what to potentially be aware of?

I have a couple hundred names there and haven't had any problems.

Beware with Namesilo.
A couple of years ago they started, and they published that their renewals WOULD BE DIFFERENT THEN OTHER REGISTRARS => THEY SAID THE FEE WOULD BE THE SAME as their registrationfees, TOTALLY DIFFERENT THEN OTHER REGISTRARS what they proofed by showing prices on their webpage with comparisons.
I could buy dotmobi's at 7.98 and indeed renewal at 7.98. However, by the time they had to be renewed, they had already changed the renewalrate for dotmobis to 13.99 or so. (and the normal rate stayed 7.98) I have sent them a big complaint about that. They wrote they would loose at the rate 7.98.
I was furious, lost 2 interesting domains, and the only thing they were concerned about is that they would loose money if they did what they promised in the beginning. They weren't interested in what they had promised at all. They would have lost some money, yes, but I especially changed from registrar because of what they promised in the beginning. I don't trust them any more since. Always be very vigilant to registrars you can't reach by phone.

It may be so they may have betterred since then. But be carefull.

@RU - GoDaddy is unable to process payments with PayPal when you use a coupon. ;)

Thanks for the clarification RU.

IMO, not accepting BTC or PayPal is something to be aware of, but not exactly something I that would make you "beware" of a registrar. I thought you were implying they were doing something shady or illicit.

I was able to use PayPal to successfully register a .com about an hour ago at Uniregistry. There may have been a hiccup or something when you tried.

@David Walker I never had similar issues before.

Uniregistry's support responded to my ticket:
This may be a result of the transaction being blocked by your bank. We've seen this happen with some banks who become suspicious of transactions made online and/or from international locations.

I suggest you contact PayPal and/or your bank to inquire further why the transactions are not being approved.

...our location outside of the US and Europe sometimes raises red flags to banks and the customer is required to call and approve our status.

I understand you haven't had these issues before but those companies are likely located within the US or Europe. Unfortunately in this scenario, there isn't anything we can do unless you contact your bank to approve us and also provide us with photo ID matching the credentials of your credit card.
My Uniregistry experience - I wasted my time and missed nTLD domains (EAP).

Best,
RU

Hello,

If I only used one registrar, I would choose GoDaddy (but only with their Discount Domain Club).

I also can recommend: Dynadot, Uniregistry, Namecheap.

For short term: Godaddy (but beware with their promotion).
For long term: Namecheap.

indeed. i just think godaddy has the most , noob-friendly interface and quick help, but ive actually not had muchof an experience with uni. so i cant judge it vs godaddy. I just like godaddy because everyone i sell to always asks, "is the domain on godadddy?" -- and 6$ for a year of easy auctions, bulk edit, can host fast WP servers there, lots of .99 discoounts a month for .com. Literally ive lost 25% of sales due to them being on another registrar. Mainly 1and1.com - requires manually 1by1 editing NS's, so my 280 names there require me to actually hirea fiverr guy for 10$ to change them all. Takes hours...

Ill pay 10$ + more for registration if it means avoiding that mess.
I didnt find this out until i bought 70 names in 14 hours 1 day on expired /droplisit names.
1$ reg has a cap too, but if you buy .com .net (both or 1) at a time, over and over, .99cents each time.

BUT , once you get seen doing a lot, they will randomly cancel some(conicedentally they were my PR 7 domains. out of 51, there was an 'error;*cough scam* on 3 names that were each wroth almost as much as all others put together.
-
Anyways, trial and error is the ultimatum. I started off thkning gdady was just a big brand name reg. with high prices(and some new gtlds and cctlds are way over priced) which is why i shopped other spots.
But now its only godaddy, name, namecheap or bigrock.(depending on needs+ price of reg fee.) Name.com is good for sedo auctions on premium exposure sale MLS advanced or something. But to getthis feature you need it on a partnerned program registar. which godaddy isnt(go f'n figure) - but i guess they both auction, so might be a conflict of profits lol.

Anyways, ill stop rambling. I just always loved to hear opinions from someone more experiened from me, which was everyone at a point not long ago, so just tring to do my part and help out too.

If you need advice on how to find good names for reg fees costs, age checking tools, estibot similar tool(i thkn its better because its free, but its a little slower) , keyword research CPC freetools,or anything related that ive learned from the journey, im more than happy to help.

I was bind before this fourm, and i thank all people who contributed to making it possible for me to domain smarter, not waste money on names you have to pay someone to take and the general kindness of most.(there are some trolls lle douches though, wont mention names, but youll know when you see one.)

but 99% of the ppl on here ive talked with were neutral or very kind, this is only possible thru proper moderation and edicate of forum rules. Soya, not a burden at all to help out, i enjoy it rather,

And i will sell one domain i have for sale low to any newly met person thats a NP member.
One, so you can have something to just resell wheneer for profit(i make sure you will be able to ) and 2, this is what someone didfor me, which really made an impact on my presense aroun the forum.

I frequent NP more now then epicnpc where i make 4 figures a week(net total, not profit) selling mmorpg stuff. Its always fun receving 1600$ in western union for a pixel club in a game.
Kraken Club for FFXI -- i play this game for 1 reason, to keep up to date with top selling gear.
Highest paying players for accounts out of any other MMO ive ever sold for.
Anyways, off topic lol.

Stock market pooped me a golden egg today, increase of 1.8$ on a stock i bought for 9.20$ a sharex1000
for a solar power compnay. and increase of .40cents on game stop (13,000 shares) seems like a little ,
but its not lol. think if it was +1$, thats 13000$ gain. so 40 was ibelieve 5200$ increase. I sold at the end of the market day as its a wavy, 'status = bully', Fidelity is the business thought. Transfering 10k from oyour bank so you can trade soon? Well, guess what, they give you the 10k on good will without evening having 1 business day pass. I just didnt know that if i cashout befoer age 55 its -18$

LOL, i thnk i was zoning out, as im laughing at my speach my subconsions preprared for the thread.
enjoy! - Ill be signing domain books at 8PM PST Sharp! Get in line.. *4 hours later*, well, i guesss ill sign my hand since no one came. I thought that thread post was a winnner haha.
anyways, dont mind me, my tag used to be Riddler, half the stuff spewing out is joking or bsing/joshing to hafe a good time back in my party(*cough raver) days.

Happy Early 4th NP -- Im drunk already and i dont even drink, someone said sometiing about a microdot, i thought it was a tongue tattoo thats removeable. Warning: i wouldnt take microdots btw, unless your an experienced Trip Taking. (Itravel alot :o) - I think molly iis calling, might have to go handle this 2nd girl today too.. haha,
im done -- (whhich i said to myself 6 times) anyways, need help, have a skill for webdesign or need help finding a name thats not registered , high CPC keyword phrase or Medium CPC kw phrase, as its compeition is usually much lower. So many times ive turned 1-4$ reg fee into thousands. Networking, Presentation, Perseverance, Patience. Learn Love an Live by Those Morals -- You Will Come up On Top.
and i suggest on .com domains, until your more advanced than now, as .com are always going to be ike a share holding in a stock, but guaranteed to only increase in price. Shitty 5L names today become worth 2k in 10 years. Good LLLL's become cost of LLL's , and LLL's cost whatever the doctor.

Anywys, never drive your car based 100% on someone elses directions.. You'll always get lost unless you make some different turns at forks based on this instict youll aquire. Like a rough draft is Ppls help, pre-final draft = your own tiral and error. Final draft, well, @Eric Lyon , he'd have to answer this last part of the analogy. He's one smart, dedicated , competent kind domainer that would qualify as a final draft domainer :P

Whoever said they were paying me 15$ to type a story , cash me out. I cant do 3 , sorry, i can only agree on the 1 i fulfilled.

Or wait, did anyone even say this... hmm. Ill just pray, while positioned to the north east as it rains and have faith in the asian culture believing in directions causing different anomalies.

Also, if you get someone offfering you 20k for a new domain you have fr their client and for a new project, send me them. It will save you 90$ in a fake apprasial and gaain me the joy of a DD*S brute ogreforce smash on their email.
- I want you to buy my 5$ domains for 20-50k so bad ill send you 100,000 emails an hour until you figure out if i changed my mind on thing if your real or a scam.( but on the real, its a very deceptive email scam, just a warning)

It's already been mentioned a few times in this thread, but I will add a +1 to NameCheap. Their support, for me, has always been fast, courteous, and very helpful. Overall, a great registrar. :)
