So, how many of you all not only park or try to sell your pages, but also have any e-mail sent to that domain sent to a central account to monitor it? I have to admit when I first started in websites, I had the "catch all" accounts forwarded because I wanted to see other's mail
But more recently, it's to catch any offers people send, and possible legal correspondence, etc.
What's surprising to me is the amount of e-mail traffic from legitimate sources (Not "make your penis bigger" spam) that some of my sites get. For instance, cameo.cc has gotten an average of 4 e-mails a day from different folks, and it has never been registered before. Other sites get as much as 20-30 a day that isn't mailing list, but individually (targeted) written traffic (.com's only, cameo.cc is the largest of my non-traditional TLD's.).
I can write some of them off as simply being mistyped, but some (like cameo.cc) are definitely not mistyped (My only thought was "camero.cc", but it's not registered, although $NP is appreciated if you do register it
).
The mail doesn't seem to match up with the number of type-ins either. For instance, codes.cc for me gets 10 or so uniques a day, but receives less than 1 e-mail a day. Cameo is lucky to get a unique a day, yet gets all kinds of e-mails from different folks.
Anyone else have the same experience? Any suggestions as to the cause?
