I was recently contacted by a 500person private domestic corporation named DSSI Networks. My company is also named DSSI but we recently were able to snatch up dssi.net using snapback. Since we have not built our business around dssi.net, we are considering selling it to the corporation.
Here is the information I have collected so far.
The Chief Operations Officer of the company sent me a FEDEX Next Day Air package containing a 1 page printed letter explaining his interest in my domain dssi.net. The letter had no folds or creases, was very clean and on DSSI letterhead. It was signed in ink by the COO.
You may wonder why this is important, but I think it helps me determine his true interest and professional desires.
The company interested in the domain is a domestic, privately held corporation of 500 partners (each employee is a partner.)
After contacting the COO regarding his interest, his initial offer for the domain was $5k. This makes me believe he is willing to go somewhat higher.
I need some help determining the value of my domain because I feel it is worth more then the offer, but I don't want to scare him away with a figure that is too high, because my department could really use the money to finance some new equipment.
