domain Ready for Summer? I got your Bikini!

Unfortunately, the bikini is located in .IT not in .com land.

So, what your evaluation of: Bikini.it - my first .IT domain

Too bad that the registration didn't include a bikini model...

Anyhow, hit me with some numbers please.

I guess the .IT names are a bit hard to appraise IB!

I'm going to use a previous sale / relative search volume valuation method:

teatro ( theater ) .it sold for approx 5.5k last year

teatro has about 20x more italian searches than "bikini"

therefore I would have to put a figure of $275 on bikini.it

however, I think the above appraisal has several major flaws:

1. afaik, "bikini" is a word which means the same thing in more languages than "teatro"

2. I don't know if the teatro sale is to a reseller or to an end user

3. I'm not sure that I can rely on the google translation service and I don't speak more than about 5 words of italian.

EDIT: Flaw number 4: I did the appraisal!

Thanks, great line up of pro's and con's.
The reason to choose bikini was, as you already mentioned, that it's an international term, used the same way in English, German, Italian, etc. This alone was a compelling reason to register it. Also, another reason was that some of the most famous designers, Armani, Versace, etc. are from Italy, same goes for sportswear power houses like Diadora, which is also Italian.
Now, I agree with you that the term Teatro has more search results and I can't find any mainstream sales for .IT if my life depended on it....
Thus, not having any real comparable values is making this eval difficult.

Nonetheless, thanks for your eval, it's a rep+, of course

If anyone else wants to weigh in, please do so, this domain is really puzzling me.

imo bikini.it is more valuable, at least 1k
.. i wont sell it for less .. if u dev .it :p i think it will have a lot of traffic .. my 1st idea would be to put on it nice babes in bikini but in this case i am not sure if adsense would be a solution :yell:

it's actually BikiniS < plural i'm guessing the eval would still remain the same, though?

The idea is to either see whether the domain is getting sufficient type in traffic and then generates parked revenue OR to develop into an Italian Designer Bikinis Shop. Something where you can your Versace, Gucci, Armani... actually, look at the wikipedia link to get an idea how many Italian Fashion Designers there are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Italian_fashion_designers

I'm certainly welcoming more evals but also ideas for development.
