After only a 4 month period, I'm having to sell my own person web site. Because of upcoming issues I will have no spare time to perform any updates or check up on the site, which is forcing me to sell .

The site has approx. 1500 members, a large amount of them active which shows when you glance at the 5000+ messages that have been sent across the site, 1400+ comments left on images and 1400+ pictures which have been approved (thousands upon thousands have been rejected because of inappropriate content or being too big/small).

A quick run through of the sites stats show: 340 unique visits a day, 38550 hits per day. This comes from next to nothing of advertising! No money has even been inputted into the site for advertising, in the last few days I have started arranging many link exchanges with rating directories ect to advance in search engines (which I will come to in a moment).

The site itself was first based upon a turnkey site, but the coding has been advanced a great deal, the site re-designed, features added - it is basically a completely new site.

I have never looked into the search engine part of things much. But over the past few days I have started optimizing the site. It's ranked #1 for "rate-a-face" in the all new MSN Search, and on page 5 for "photo rating".
In google it varies from page 2 - 4 for search term "rate-a-face", but is now finally beginning to advance.



The site has overall a huge base built up, and has a steady supply of traffic and income. It is now receiving $5 a day ($150 a month) from a Gaming world type web site, also has Amazon affilate program on it which has had interest to it..

It's very easy to maintain, as it includes an easy to use admin panel where you can send out newsletters, approve/delete all the new images/comments being uploaded, look at any logs you need to and take control of the member database (plus anything else). The site includes active forums (which haven't been up long) and has a linked database with the main site.



Hosting is paid for another 2 months (very cheap, but reliable hosting - site uses around 15GB of bandwidth per month) - more details will be given if needed.

can you provide further details about income..i still can't figure out how you are making money..the only thing i see is a banner from a gaming site which really has no tracking system either..thanks

The site has been online for 110 (just under 4 months) days on this servers it is hosted on at the moment. Before that it was only online for around 2 weeks.

The income is, in a way, contracted. It's not a pay per click program but a sponsor for the website. Last month they paid $10 a day ($300 for the month) to be featured on every page of the website, but they said they weren't getting enough click through % from it, so it has now lowered to $5 a day ($150 a month).

The reason for selling is bascially with the life ahead of me, I don't want to be side tracked by my web work, it's nice to have a small 2nd income like Rate-A-Face pulls in, but I could never get the full potential from it. It can easily turn into the new web craze, but unfortunatly, I'm not the person to do this. I have built it and got what I want from it, and it's someone elses turn now.

To go into abit more detail - I have just got into the National Legaue (basketball) which requires me to put in alot of work both on and off the court, plus outside interests (such as club promoting) is my true love, and whatever money I get from Rate-A-Face may help me a great deal in this. Because of this, I am selling my computer and investing into a laptop (still looking for recommendations if anyone has any input!)

Had a few people asking what will they actually receive.... The answer to this is everything!... All coding, members, designs, logs, email addresses, hosting, domain name, future income, forums... the lot!

how much bandwidth is being used and what about the size of the website!

The highest of bandwidth used for a month has been 15.90 Gigs and then 15.72 Gigs after that. But I expect that this month will almost double that as over 10 Gigs have been used already.


The whole site is around 135 Megs of space, but is rapidly increasing.


Here are afew general screenshots of the member/comments and image databases (within the admin panel). At the bottom of each image you can see the total members/comments and images. (Attached)

Also, the page rank in google has now got to #7 for the search term rate-a-face and is still #1 in MSN. (link exchanges have now been arranged with massive sites such as aBum.com, Ebaumsworld and simular sites).
