Hey mates, i have come to notice a rising trend in sales of these random LL+NNNNN, LL+NNNN.
According to the little research i've been able to make, most of these sales picked up begining of this year and most of these domains were registered in 2014 and some more premium ones already regged as far back 2009.
For example, yh8866 sold for $706 today and so many more starting with js and so on.
Well, i've been trying so hard to understand what really makes them valuable. Is it a chinese market trend or do the starting letters signify something in chinese?

Also noticed most of them are owned by chinese.
So anyone here have insight into this seemingly growing trend?
Regards,
Josh.

Yes. It's the Chinese buying these domains in droves which make this a growing Chinese market trend. I would try to avoid mixing letters and numbers, and keep as short a possible.

Ok thanks.
Any reason in particular you might know for the growing trend?
Cos am trying to think that maybe a specific combination/pattern might have a specific meaning to them in chinese?....

For the Chinese, all numbers have a meaning, just like lucky 7 is lucky in most of the rest of the world. Then you put them together in combinations to get other meanings. Double 77 is extra lucky. 7 is an English example only. It doesn't translate to lucky in Chinese. Do a Google Search for Chinese Numbers to find the meanings. For the Chinese, 8 is the best number to have and 4 is the worst. See the previously mentioned Google Searches for why. 8.com is better than 88.com (because of it's rarity). Apart from these numerical meanings, numbers can be branded to anything. But the biggest trend is usually just speculation. A Chinese can buy a domain for $xk and sell it 3 months later for a 30-50% profit. Does it sound like a bubble waiting to happen? Yes. But there is probably a long way to go before this gets played out. Plenty of money to be made if you buy and sell wisely.
