i think it needs to be at least 60days , you may need to read transfer process or FAQ of your registrar

Er, I think I worded that out wrong. I meant: I have a domain, a .vc, that expires in 4 days. I was thinking of transferring it from namesbeyond.com (they charge $100/year) to moniker (they charge only $40). Do ya think I could transfer it in 4 days?

ok that i don't know because never used them both, but my last transfer i have done took about 2 days between yahoo and godaddy.

one more thing i forgot is if you got a website dev with that name, it will stay on before /in/after transfer so you dont wory about a downtime , but as i said that was between ya/gd

I think I read somewhere that a domain has to have about a week left on it in order to transfer it.. I dunno. I have 2 .vc's actually. And I don't wanna pay $200 to renew 2 domains :(

the best way to do it is to contact namebeyond, because i took a look at thier FAQ , there is no info about transfers

Thanks, I'll do that. I have only 1 domain with them... and will likely never use them again :(

If you're planning to hold on to the names, I would strongly recommend you to renew them at NameBeyond first before transferring them to Moniker, which to be honest, something you should have done long time ago instead of waiting till the last 4 days.

Good luck. :gl:

I just bought these yesterday. I saw that renewals were $40 at moniker and assumed they were similar at NB. Damn me for assuming :(

Ah that sucks. :td:

Sorry to hear, but what I suggested above is probably your safest bet and I wouldn't risk transferring out at this point of time.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

Thanks. I have cutie.vc and QT.vc to renew. I have the feeling that cutie.vc might not do well (there are a lot of dictionary domains regged in ccTLD and most suck) so I'll probably let it go. But QT.vc is a LL and according to namebio, LL.vc still sell well. So I suppose I'll renew QT.vc and try to get $500 or so for it. I think that's a believable price since the names on namebio have sold for $500-2,000. :)

Hmm, not really an answer but:

.com / .net
-> Yes, you can transfer it last day before expiration but
-> a) some Registrars have rule that you cant
-> b) Transfer must be started before expiration, must be confirmed ... it means its not enough that you start it, another Registrar must initialize it.
-> When domain is in transfer it cant be changed/deleted

You see there are lot of if's
-> Registry
-> Registrar

(even if Registry allow it, don't mean Registrar allow it)

It's a risk with a .vc but are you saying that, assuming my domains were .com/.net, a transfer could be initiated a day or 2 before they're set to expire and the domains COULDN'T expire during the transfer process?

RIGHT

have already written about that, so here is reference ->

... IMPORTANT-> "Please note that a domain transfer does not start right after you submit a domain transfer order to us. A domain transfer starts after the transfer has been authorized. You will receive a "Transfer Initiated" email from us when that happens."

Thanks a million. I tried to rep you but couldn't :(
I suppose I'll try a transfer. I'll let you know how it all works out.
