What are your personal top 5 go-to sections (or threads) on the NamePros forum, and why?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

"Popular Today" cos I wanna be with the "in" crowd.

namePros landers thread as a result of my watchlist.

Atom marketplace thread as a result of my watchlist.

"Buy" by new listing sort. Never know if you might get a bargain.

Also frequent some user made lists for newly expired names or available to reg names.

1. Popular Today:

It's a curation of usually new topics that are getting traction. If there's a new news, it'll appear here.

Very useful section that cuts through the noise. I don't have to go trawling through individual sections.

The most popular (and interesting) topics from most sections appear here.

NamePros tried to remove the section from Discovery, I objected very STRONGLY.

It's the first place I check after alerts.

2. Alerts:

I check this to see new updates on threads I follow. Very important.

Plus, I get alerts when certain people create new threads.
I don't know how NamePros decides which new threads alerts to send but I like them.

The threads they alert me about are usually interesting.

3. Sales Report:

I check this everyday because of NameBio's daily sales updates.
It's under the news section.

Important stuff.

4. The Thunderbolt symbol:

It takes you to a section under Forums that shows What's new, new threads, new discussions, etc.

This is a very useful section.

Threads that I might have missed would pop up under what's new when somebody drops a new comment on them.

It's useful for following up about new discussions on forgotten threads that no longer appear my alerts.

Plus, it's useful for finding new and potentially interesting threads that didn't make it to Popular Today.

5. Sales Report Threads:

Appears under my alerts but deserves its own place 'cause of how frequently I use it.

Whenever I'm trying to visit NamePros, I land on the Sales Reports thread. That's how NamePros is saved in my browser history.

The Sales Reports thread is my first point of contact any time I try to access NamePros.
It's been like that for years now.

I never visit NamePros directly. My browser always takes me to the Sales Reports thread.

It should be the MOST popular thread on NamePros.

This home page of this site is a flipping mess, a gaggle of panels, poor/confusing layout and titles of sections and is wholly unappealing to navigate.
So I only go to All Domain Discussions, which seems to be where every forum ends up.

It never occurs to me to go anywhere else on this site as I just can't psyche myself up to do so.
Plus, I have a limited amount of lifetime click-ability in my fingers and expending it on stuff that requires unknown amounts of clicking, is unwise click-ability expenditure.

I have told the mods about this already and about some defects/issues, none of which have been fixed after many months have passed.

1. New posts
2. Watched threads as some watched threads dont show in new posts section.

Only 2 for me. Have i been missing out on stuff for 18 years?

Chat would be top of list but its 2025 not 2009 so its not quite as easy to add a real chat.

I generally hit New Posts first then maybe I bounce around like All Discussions, Domain Buying and Selling Discussion etc...

Mainly watched then new posts, but I think I've also been missing out on some good stuff.

Thanks for all the insight.

From the main page, we follow a short daily routine, ad infinitum.
  • Alerts
  • DMs
  • The Pulse โ†’ All Domain Discussions (aggregate section)
  • New Posts section on the right
  • All Appraisals (aggregate section)
Regarding threads, we're particularly interested in the Atom, Afternic, and NamePros Parking discussions.

Marketplace is not part of our daily routine, but we do occasionally check listings at random when bored.

We read almost everything.

For me, my top 5 routine (Currently) is:
  1. Alerts
  2. DMs
  3. Insiders Club > Professional Appraisals
  4. New Posts > Discussions
  5. Domain Extensions > gTLDs
There's more, but that's just my top 5 (When I first visit NP each morning), which is subject to change every few months or once a year, depending on different factors.

I usually go to the fake chat and post up in there by my lonesome or until someone shows up then jams in what are you listening and I follow couple members postings

I just hit new posts and click through anything that looks interesting.

To add, there are certain members with whom I often share similar interests, so when I see their avatar it catches my attention, and I end up reading their posts and catching up on that thread.

We read almost everything.
Iโ€™d be curious to hear from members what usually serves as their personal impetus to reply to something theyโ€™ve read.

Another poll-worthy question, IMO.

Does anyone actually use the share buttons in the footer?

If so, which ones exactly?

Didn't know it was there. I'm on here on mobile 99% of the time and it's pretty hidden. I wouldn't use it anyway. Don't have anyone to share it with ๐Ÿ˜‚.

What are your personal ... go-to sections (or threads) on the NamePros forum, and why?
I often scroll through Discover - New Posts to make sure I don't miss anything interesting. That's how I (re)stumbled upon this thread.

Most of my access comes via alerts. The red indicator showing the number of new alerts is quite addictive, and I find myself refreshing the Namepros page on my mobile device far too often to see if there are any new alerts waiting.

My favorite alert threads are the members' sales reports, where there's a guy who's selling faster than I can register, and the Namebio report. Namebio is released at exactly 2 p.m. in my time zone, a sort of teatime.

Other informative threads include the critical discussions on the various marketplaces, especially Atom. I also enjoy visiting the meeting places of "religious speculators" in the .now Showcase and .si Showcase.

I almost forgot about the new hand registers, to see if the others were registering the same rubbish as me, and whether that one colleague would ever manage to post a three-digit number of actually decent hand registers in a single day.

Besides the topics, it's also the members with knowledge, opinion, clarity, or entertainment value who encourage me to access threads when new posts appear. I don't follow anyone, even though the newsfeed they would generate would certainly be worth it.
