Hi, my registrar had denied my transfer request quoting Icann has a rule:
"When the domain has less than 15 days until renewal, it can not be transfered. It must first be renewed. This is enforced to all registrars and is not something we put in place to be awkward or anything"

So ...my question, is that true?

(and this is after waiting 3 days for them to tell me, it is due for renewal on the 15 th October, I put in for transfer on the 8 th)

You need to keep up with your renewels. They have to have some kind of cut off date as sometimes transfers take days for people to initiate or get codes etc. So its fair really.

No, I don't believe that's the rule, but the registrar is supposed to send a notice of impending deletion at 15 days.

I don't believe that.
I have transferred a domain with a week to expire.

Not true. Unless someone can find such a rule anywhere in ICANN's site.

Sure its important to keep up with renewels. I was thinking about days left to sell a name in Godaddy auction as a requirement. Thanks for the corrections, (not you sunny boy.. ha ha). Got no problems with learning something new.

Here is one of the parts that really pissed me off,
After it was declined for a day and half, they sent a confirmation letter for the transfer, 2 day ago, and just recently did they state the 15 day thing,

So, my question still stands....
and please no more opinions or advice on when to renew, just wanting an answer or your own experience transfering names with less than 2 weeks to expire...
THANKS....

Did you see my reply? It doesn't appear to be a rule.

It's difficult to disprove a rule, but when you can't find any reference to it, it's safe to say it doesn't exist.

Thanks, Godaddy also confirmed that is not a rule and not in their policy. So WSDreg.com is just jacking me around to get me to renew w/them and get my money...sad.
Anybody experience any hassles with WSDreg.com when transfering names out?
Now on day 4 of trying to get them to let it go....ugh _\|/_

UGH
Get this ....
NOW they are saying there is 'lock in placed on your domain due to several spam complaints'
GeeZ LouiS
What a crock of ****,
Stay away from WSDreg.com /horrible experience and the nightmare continues, still no transfer and more bs from them.

Just FYI. The reason that your domain was not transferring was because GoDaddy didn't confirm the transfer. It was only when we contact them that they decided to accept it. Remember transfers are never instant. You contacted us on the day you requested a transfer complaining that it had not gone through.

I can assure you that we wouldn't risk our reputation for the sake of getting one customer to pay an extra $9.
