Questions on pagerank

Hi everyone,

I'm not too familiar with the concept of SEO and how to effectively use it to promote page rank. Lets say hypothetically I own a store that sold phones in Canada. My domain name is phones.ca. Does it make sense to purchase buyphones.ca. If so, what would that page consist of? Would it be an exact duplicate of the ecommerce site, or would it be a portal, blog, etc that had links to phones.ca? Any advice is much appreciated.

It wouldn't really help. Yes, you would receive a backlink from buyphones.ca by linking to phones.ca on it, but it would be a low PR (I assume) and wouldn't effect the PR of phones.ca.

buyphones.ca or phones.ca could help with your SEO as keywords in URL do carry a little bit of weight, but content is whats really important. I don't know if Google will like duplicate content on each of the sites.
