Yes sibaong is spot on, edit MX record in your Namecheap control panel for email and CNAME record for domain name.

Have a look at http://www.google.com/support/a/?hl=en for detailed info.

thanks for both, and can someone provide a screen-copy of Namecheap DNS setting on this?

Another option is to use Everyone.net and point your mx there. I have used them for many years, and they allow 50% revenue share for ads on webmail.

I have about 50,000++ registered email users. The one thing I would recommend is that you charge for the email service. Free email is commonly used for spam/scam, which can actually detract from the value of your domain and be a major headache. I canceled about 20,000 email accounts recently and I can already feel the stress levels lowering.

Another problem with these email accounts is that they get blocked so that anything coming from your domain is dumped. Then you get angry messages from free email users complaining that they do not get the mail.

what if my *****.com is hosted at hosting company, how can you change it without affecting the content at *****.com?

do I change at the registrar or the hosting company?

DNS Zone

But you must have access to WHM (linux) :)

WHM >> DNS Functions >> Edit DNS Zone

no need for WHM|Linux. Just get an account at Zoneedit. they usually provide free for first 5 domains or 2 000 000 million requests i think.

thanks for your reply.

1. I still don't know whether this change need to be done at the hosting company or
the registrar.

which one is it, the hosting company or domain registrar?

2. I want to use mail.myowndomain.com instead of the google.com/a/myowndomain.com login to the email. Google says I need to change
the CNAME. I assume that I should change this at the hosting company, right?
question: if I use mail.myowndomain.com, do I use my traffic quota from my hosting
company? (I would not think so since the email will be rerouted right?).

1)Domain Name Registrar. It's usually called Controll panel or DNS panel or similar to that

2) Google apps tells you where and what exactly to change. All you have to do is choose your Domain Registrar from drop down list.

You can type in the browser webmail.mynu.mobi and it will take you to the google.com/a/mynu.mobi. Try it. For that you have to add a CNAME as sibaong previously mentioned. Again, it's explained pretty clear on google apps page.
There is now way to hide that google is the email provider. It will still forward you to google.com/a/XXXXX.

The email box quota goes against your quota at gmail. Which is close to nothing. Don't worry about that part.
Same rule applies to email traffic quota, AFAIK.
