I get that certain letters like V, U, Q and etc. tend to lower the value of a LLLL.com domain, but if those letters work to make it geo-targeted does that act as a trade-off?

For example abvt could make for a sweet Vermont targeted domain (Amazing Books in Vermont) or pbnv for Nevada (Paintball Nevada / Player's Bank Nevada) or rsut for a Utah targeted site (Realestate Specialists of Utah) and so on.

I'm guessing it would depend on if you can find a buyer who cares about the geo-targeting... but I'd like to hear what folks here who know more than me about domains have to say.

If I'm right about needing to find buyers looking for geo-targeted domains, is there a specific place out there where that's a focus, or is it just a luck of the draw kind of thing when selling?

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Scott,

You touched on a subject that isnt widely realized yet. Geo-LLLL.com's - However, I'm not sure your examples are whats going to work in the future. Today I purchased an LLLL.com because it was the initials of a large city and state. (LBCA)

Long Beach, CA

I have several other southern california geo-llll.com's which I believe to have tremendous unrealized value. Ive spent some time trying to acquire these types and have a few in my portfolio already, I like them, and im buying.

One of my only LLLL.com that earns any ppc money is lmnv... I have it set up as lake mead, nevada.

I think names like kyav (Kentucky Audio Visual) and VTQF (Vermont Quality Food/Fencing) are worth more than the quality of their letters indicate.

Of course, nothing is worth more than someone will pay for it. You may have to develop the domains or use direct sales marketing to find an end user.

Thanks, I guess I was looking just at the state level targeting, but I can see where if the first letter(s) can represent a fair size to large city or area in the state that would be even better.

For instance, instead of Paintball Nevada PBNV would be more valuable for Pine Bluff, Nevada or similar.

Good stuff, thanks again for the replies.

I've paid a little more (than base resale values) for several 4L dot coms, like NYVM, for exactly this reason. With possible uses like 'New York Video Mart' and 'NY Veterinary Medicine' I consider them well worth the gamble.
