Question about NNNNN.com (5) domain names

So my question is why are they so popular? What do people actually do with 5 random numbers thrown together?

but they fit ZIP codes, for example...

...and, all 100k of them are taken

there are 100,000 of 5N domains and ~457,000 LLLL.com domains. When it comes to math, 5N are more rare then 4L...

it would be good for last 5 digits of mobile number, zip code as stated above, lucky numbers, fancy numbers to easily remember, etc., many more options are there. But I'l neve go with such a domain lol :0

Thanks! That is all I could think of was zip codes, but with them all taken and people still hand regging new ones I wonder what purpose they would even serve lol
