.mobi Question about auspicious Chinese numbers

Last year during the buy-out of NNNN.mobi there was a lot of talk about the use of numbers in Chinese society. I went a step beyond NNNN and bought 38383.mobi, following the logic:

3 and 8 are the best numbers, meaning grow and wealth
3 is yang, outer, dominant - there are 3 of them
8 is yin, inner, there are 2 (a yin number) of them.

I just followed what people who seemed to understand were saying, without real knowledge of what I was doing.

Would anyone familiar with Chinese society care to comment?

Chinese like 6 and 8, 6 means doing everything smoothly, 8 means earning money more and more. but 3 have no goog meaning.

3 is NOT the best number for Chinese. but 8 is.
8,9,6 are the best numbers.
3 really meaning grow sometimes, but most time just for Cantonese.

don't forget most of Chinese speak Mandarin. Chinese NOT equal Cantonese. maybe your Chinese friend just speak Cantonese, because he might come from Hongkong or Guangdong province of China, but in fact Main land of China including Taiwan, people speak Mandarin.
