3248.com (NNNN.com) - Chinese for 'Very prosperous business' 生意死發

生意死發 (3-2-4-8) 生意 (3-2) = "business" 死發 (4-8) = "very or always prosperous"

As a native Chinese Cantonese-speaker, I snapped up this NNNN.com numeric domain a number of years ago on DNF given its significance. "any 3 digit number that ends with 48 sounds like "wealthy for X live times" (世發) (e.g. 748[七世發] is wealthy for 7 live times"), thus is generally considered lucky" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_in_Chinese_culture) "48: 4 sounds like 'death', when placed in front of the prosperous 8 becomes 'determined to prosper'. Not bad at all for a new year's resolution."

"The numbers that start with 1,2,3,6 and 8 or a combination will always sound lucky. 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 54, 68, 80, 84, 88, 99, 168 & 108 are all good numbers. You can choose which you like, but try to have he number balanced with yin and yang energies. For example 3388, 1618 and 1328 are all very auspicious, because they have a combination of two yang numbers and two yin numbers. Such combinations are balanced and very lucky to have them in your life.” (http://messagenote.com/fengshui-2/chinese-numerology-good-or-bad-number) "

48—This is a Feng Shui lucky number meaning “sure to prosper”." (https://fengshuiform.wordpress.com/2010/12/06/how-to-interpret-the-energy-of-housenumbers/) “328 should sound like "heart easily prosper", right? Except that 32 also sounds like "business", which makes 328 one of the most popular of all number combinations for business owners.” (http://www.rolexforums.com/archive/index.php/t-73673.html) "

In Cantonese 8(發) and 3(生) are lucky numbers. 6(祿) and 9(久) are good too. And 4 is of course unlucky because it sounds like 死. Some combinations are particularly lucky/unlucky: 18 - 實發 28 - 易發 328 - 生意發 (good business)" (http://forum.wordreference.com/threads/cantonese-luckynumbers.2010751/#post-10051601)

Don't rely on Google Search's literal translation, 生意死發 is a colloquialism. Check with a native cantonese speaker on: Fiverr (https://www.fiverr.com/gigs/cantonese/) Chinese translation forums (http://www.cantonese.sheik.co.uk/phorum/, http://www.chineseforums.com/index.php?/forum/20-non-mandarin-chinese/, http://www.chinalanguage.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=2) DON'T BE A NAIVE-NUMERIC-NAME( INVESTING)-NOOB! Invest in a NNNN.com with real meaning.

Thanks to all that bid on the auction. I was very happy with the sale price of $21,220 - the falling Australian dollar was a bonus :)

Picked up that domain for a few hundred dollars on DNF not so long ago.

Back then LLL.com was averaging around $5k and I thought maybe that one day NNNN.com might command that sort of price range too. Who would have guessed that they now sell for $15k each?

Anyway, my wife had commandeered my ill-gotten gains - so easy come, easy go. :)
