PSP.COM - How did Sony get that??

Hello Everyone,

PSP.com now directs to YourPSP.com, so it looks like Sony has managed to get hold of the name ('PSP.COM')... how the heck could they get such a good name in such a short space of time!?

Yes when you have the money Sony has you can get almost any domain you want very easily.

The cost will be easily written off from the profits of the sale of the PSP.

not far away from half a million, but somewhere around $250k for sure..

then again, lets not forget about TM issues here - maybe he took the best offer before it would have become a court matter

I'm sure this name was reg'd waaaaaaaaay before the PSP was even thought of. That kinda kills the idea that they could try to take the name because of TM infringement.

but this would have been a typical "little man" against "major corp" case..and I doubt the little man would've walked off victorious. Sony would probably find a way to twist things into their favor.

After seeing that I can say with surety that there is no way in hades that Sony could prove there was TM infringement. I hope they got a cool million for it!

Actually Sony has a very good nack for owning the domains in their market.

They are one of the very few companies that had their Japanese IDNs for a few years now already.

So I think they might have bought it years back.

yes but when you consider that sony will make a few hundred million if not more from the PSP alone in the next few years would 50k be enough

$50k? I would refuse anything below $5million. Sony has VERY deep pockets, and they would be losing a lot of business by not having PSP.com.
