I also agree with this. I think Sony should simply retain the same name Crackle.com for their new improved service, and simply announce the improvements on their Crackle.com website. IMHO. But I would also continue to pursue the CracklePlus.com owner to give up their domain (from my understanding of how it really is).

I dont really see a need for them to get the domain. They have Crackle.com already, why do they need CracklePlus.com? I just dont see the "plus" being that important in this case.

The Domain owner should have listed for a reasonable price, maybe they could have gotten a sale instead of nothing. Because that is obvious, they will end up with nothing.

haha, someone picked up Crackle.Plus less than a month ago.

The article may not be well written to your like. I agree with you, it sounds like a press release for CracklePlus.com. Nevertheless, the context still qualify as domain industry news by all standards.

At $10,000 price, this domain name is being offered at a giveaway price to a mega company like Sony. Yet, they still want to negotiate it further down. But that's what usually happens to a desperate seller, I see a lot of desperation from the guy, through this article which was probably written by him. Sony is simply trying to take advantage of his desperation.

By the way, pay up and change your name to "Brad" if it's so important to you :xf.cool::xf.cool:

Pay up only when there isn't any TM issues. This is a 100% case of trademark infringement...

I hope you're just kidding about this? CracklePlus is the premium version of their service and you're questioning the veracity of trying to buy (CracklePlus.com) the exact domain?

No. Sony simply has no need for his domain name. They already own the far superior Crackle.com.
If they wanted it, they would probably just file a UDRP.

It seems pretty clear the owner is operating in bad faith saying "Abdullah is claiming to start his own entertainment website on the same domain" and he has a TM for the term Crackle Plus (where?).

If Sony was interested at one point the owner botched it.

It's my name. It is how I sign off on posts.
I am happy with my username, but thanks for the concern.

In a statement to Variety, CSS Entertainment said, “While Crackle Plus is the name of the joint venture and associated ad network, it was never intended to be a consumer-facing domain name. The ownership of crackleplus.com is a non-issue.”

Nevertheless, I still strongly believe they need the domain, at least, for brand protection, even if they never intend CracklePlus.com to be a consumer go-to domain name. Don't forget that countless of customers are still going to type-in CracklePlus.com on their browser, as long as that's the product's name.

I suspect some brokers multiply or divide offers by 10 when exchanging them between buyers and sellers, when such activity is not easily disprovable in case of sale. And when proved, they can say I bought from you and sold to them, two separate things.

There can be two brokers in such a case: a broker representing the company, and another representing that broker and the seller. So there can be 100 fold difference instead of 10 fold.

conclusion: be your own broker. Get buyer's IP and email. But I never do it myself. If I can get an email, probably it is broker's email. By broker I mean, someone in the middle, not necessarily someone who does it professionally.
    ...

crackleplus dot com? Not worth more than 10K.

Usually a marks company negotiates these deals, and they advise their client based on their findings. I’m assuming they smell bad faith here, and have advised a lower offering price. I understand billion dollar corporations, but it doesn’t always mean a % of that is for a given domain in a particular niche of the business. Usually in this situation this should pay off, but someone has made the call to not pay up. Not sure how negotiations were handled, or what was said, but had you maybe negotiated, rather than stayed firm at one set price they may have been more opening to close. Right now they are calling your bluff, and realize the limited commercial capacity outside Rice Krispies, and their intended use to anyone else.

There are a lot of unknowns here, but domain agents usually opens up at $199 the majority of the time, not sure why. Well I know why, but it just leads me to unresponsive, especially given offer is not in opening email.

I would simply just leave it alone, and let it be, and be very careful how you position the landing page, and maybe they will reconsider.

Judging by the way crackleplus.com currently operates, the owner is begging to get UDRPed.

    Smh.

I'd ask for about $4k and a lifetime subscription.

Sony is only doing this because he is pakistani.

I would tell them to get stuffed and take in a Swedish Court.

The bad press they would get here would have people boycott their products for a while and their competitors would take big advantage of it. Comedians etc would jump on it.

Sony have no honour. Where is their ceremonial sword?

***Make the team that 'forgot' to acquire the domain name for this project pay.

Ridiculous. Why would Sony care if he is Pakistani?
They are not buying it because they don't need it.

The owner has done himself no favors as well.

Between the name itself, the buyer's actions, and the current content they could probably win a UDRP without much issue.

Why would people boycott Sony, because they refuse to pay $10K for some domain they don't want or need?
    Please.
