Pros and Cons of reporting DN Sales?

I've been considering reporting some DN sales to DNJournal, mostly for the exposure and credibility it may give my company as brokers. The downside that I see is that it may cause unwanted eyes on our inventory of domain names and/or niche.

Has anyone experienced this, first hand? Would like your input!

Thanks

If you are selling and/or brokering domain names, what eyes on your inventory would be unwanted?

I am thinking maybe he found a niche or two that does well for him and he wants no one to know?

Other than that I only see positives for a broker to report the sales.

If he wants no one to know, he isn't going to make many sales :)

Pros and Cons, obviously:

Con: Time-consuming

Pro: Better for the industry to have documented sales

Pro: If you can point to your own past sales during negotiations, then some buyers may realize your asking price is something you CAN get -- if not from them, then from others. That may boost sales.

Pro: If you can point to your own past sales, you may get more work as a broker from other domain owners.

Con: If you document a sale of a domain in a niche you're dominating due to others' unfamiliarity, then you may see greater competition as a buyer. Don't report those.

Report when it helps you. Don't report when it hurts you. It's not an all-or-nothing policy.
