Look at the attached image. If you view the image from your seat in front of the computer, Mr. Angry is on the left, and Mrs. Calm is on the right.

Get up from your seat, and move back about eight feet. They switch places!

This proves that we may not be seeing what's actually there, all the time, and why "eye-witness" accounts are often incorrect.

Somehow I don't think the average criminal has been reading up on Schyns and Olivas work with spacial frequencies and using it to fool eye witnesses

But it's an interesting concept. A guy walks into the bank with a mask. Half the people swear it was a Nixon mask the other half swear it was a Regan mask. Perhaps you could do a heist with half to man power if the guards swear they saw Carter and Johnson watching the door?

Personally I think it's more suited to those novelty shops in the mall that Sterograms and pictures where the eyes follow you than it is to a life of crime.

Me either. The point is, there can be a significant margin of error in what we are SURE we saw.
