Following on from this thread I thought it would be a good idea to have a poll.

Show us what you think will be up and coming during 2007.

Definetely .ca for the win.

Although .info, .us, and .in also have potential.

.ca is too specific to canada and canada has a small population so I dont think it will ever be huge. Even just a city like tokyo has the same population as the entire country of Canada. .mobi, .tv, and .info have the best chance since they are all three global and gaining in popularity. In a couple more years .cn and .in could take off big time since over 2 billion people live there, but it might only work well with IDN. .mobi is going gain the most!!

.cc an option but not .ws?

Again, only 12 poll options allowed. Would have otherwise.
I much prefer cc over ws. I feel that ws is 'clunky' for some reason.
While I love the idea of cc as credit card, sc as source, ws as website hasn't really been picked up very well imho.

.info because it's the logical choice after .com

Promising-wise I'd have to say the .pro if they ever release the restrictions.

One of the biggest hurtles for all non .com, .org or .net is gaining the trust of the america public. I know computer savvy users who are not domainers that call all non- "big three" domains "Scam Websites". They just don't trust some odd extension.

I've been thinking that .tv has real potential. International, memorable and well marketed. I've been running into more and more .tv sites lately too. If the price of reg goes down ( and im sure it will ), it could really explode.

Me too. Whenever I catch a wee bit of tv there seems to be a .tv domain advertised.

.TV, .CA have the most potential, the rest imo are not worth so much

As I said before, I'd very much like to see .CA domains as the front-runners.

However, I guess it will only happen if they lift the restrictions for non-Canadians AND make the registration process more - well more - straightforward.

I voted for .mobi. However in my mind info is a close second. I think that becuase mobi is so new, we will see alot of deals being made for high prices, solely due to the general public not fully aware of the TLD yet. However .info seems to be gaining more and more popularity each day. So it will be a close race.

Meaningful extensions have the greatest potential because users are more ready to accept alternatives to .com if they aren't arbitrary. That's why .org and .edu (appropriately used) don't raise an eye-brow, and why country-code tlds for big markets and true globals like .info are good bets for the future. That's also why I really can't see value in .cc.

.mobi will be really interesting to watch. If owners of sites on existing extensions are quick enough to accommodate users using mobile devices then there'll be no need for .mobi. However, they almost certainly won't, so I can see .mobi really taking off (in mobile-friendly niches).
