Problems with my domain

Hello,

Some time ago my domain expired and i had 2 months (or 3, i don't remember) to register it again. I totally forgot that domain and when i was going to register it, the registrar said i couldn't do that and the domain would be locked for one year.

That's my problem. I would like to know how i can get my domain back. Thanks in advance for any help. Bye! :]

You sure they didn't mean: "Sorry, someone else registered it so your next chance at retrieving it is next year." ?

That is strange. First step would be to check Domaintools.com - (or the "check whois" tab at most registars) to find out if it is registered now and who by. If it is not registered then you can get it. If it is, then it may give you some info on what is happening.

Normaly there are several grace periods, adding up to about a couple months, after a name expires, for you to retreive it - the later stages can be expensive. Then the name is open for anybody to claim it.

Internet Rule suggest to renew 7 days before it expired.
Yes, they are charge $80 or nearly for a grace period if you want to renew it.
But there is some registrars who don't give the epp code to you easily, need beware this.
Write a letter to Icann , which may help you.

If it's not in your expired domains at eNom, then ownership has passed to eNom. They've obviously registered it for another year and enjoying the fruits of any visitors. I would still ask them if you could pay their Extended Redemption Fee of $160. They may just accept it if they aren't making any money on your domain. If the domain has very little traffic/revenue it will probably appear in the ClubDrop auctions somewhere around the time of the next renewal.

So.. ahn.. how much time should i wait to buy my domain back? It used to be a website based on Brazil, only with brazilian visitors. Not very much income.

eNom's ToS related to expired domains is very convoluted. But the norm (if you can call it a norm) is 30 days Renewal and 90 days Extended Redemption Grace Period. But you can still ask to pay the $160 after that. Sometimes they extend these periods. But 1st check your expired domains list.
