Just wondering if anyone has run into the same problem that I have.

I am currently have a dedicated server hosting my companies site. Ever since switching to the dedicated, we have been having email problems. Clients have been getting a bounce backs saying that the email has been delayed, then eventually not sent. This only happens when there are attachments.

The other problems we are running in to are when people forward emails, or send email with attachments, it will be received, but can take hours to be received.

We are on a linux host, running Red Hat. The MTA is qmail. Any help would be appreciated.

- Try to ask this technical question on webhostingtalk.com
- Have you tried error log of sending/receiving server? (or manually connect to the SMTP port)
- dnsreport.com could also tell if there is something missing with the mail server configuration.

try to post a trouble ticket to your webhosting provider's support

Did you try cleaning the qmail queue? Are you on Plesk interface as well?

I had a similar issue and it took forever to figure it out, but for some reason my qmail settings were set to "open socket" or something similar and there was a lot of spam sent back and forth across my server.

This was at least a year ago, but I solved the problem by changing the qmail setting to "requires authentication" and cleaning the qmail queue which had a few million messages in it. If you goolge around you should be able to find the command to clear the queue.

You can also run "top" from the shell and see if qmail-send is running non-stop, if it is, it's a bad sign.

Good luck!

Hire a server tech or somebody to take a look at it. It is VERY hard to troubleshoot by chucking out stuff we know unless we actually can check around in the logs, etc.

As 123finder.com said, you should use dnsreport to see if your mail server is running properly.
