Do you use private registration?

I like private registration because I'm not crazy about my home address being out there. I've also gotten a lot of junk mail because of domains I've registered in the past. I'm thinking if I get into this for real it would be best to make an LLC (it costs $50 in my state) and get a mail box. Paying 3.99 for private reg is a rip.

I won't pay an extra fee for Whois privacy on most of my domain names, but whenever i can get this free, i'd use it.
I don't think it can decrease chances to make a direct sale, if someone wants your domain, he'll contact you even with WHOIS privacy. If someone would be discouraged by whois privacy, he doesn't really want your domain, and maybe with no privacy he would have offered you ridicolous amounts.

Exactly right.

A person who is so lazy he can't even check the landing page of your domain (which only takes less than 15 seconds to do), is most probably just a quick-buck domain flipper who will offer you pennies to the dollar on your domain and get it over with.

don't know, don't know... I am strong believer that once a potential buyers sees that the seller is hiding something - you have lost the sale.

I would strongly suggest to reconsider your desire stay anonymous, except if those are domains with possible trademark issues

If you wanted to look up the address of any ordinary business, and found their contact info obscured, you would think twice about patronizing them.
I have around 500 domains, too. The spam and junk mail is not burdensome or overwhelming. If you use, or forward your emails to, Gmail, it has a highly effective spam filter.
Personally, I would not be willing to risk even 1 sale per year over a small amount of spam / junkmail.

If you incorporate, you can list the corp as owner of the domain, and ditch those lousy whois privacy services. You can also benefit from possible tax benefits and asset protection...

But incorporation doesn't stop the junk email or telemarketing calls that come when you don't have whois privacy engaged. It just goes to whatever PO Box and phone number you use for your corporation.

Every fake 'domain renewal' letter that comes into my business PO box still has to be opened up and shredded, and every call that comes in from a 'google listing expert' still has to be at watched on the caller ID to make sure it's not a call from a real client.
