When I registered some of my domain names, I was unaware of the importance of privacy. I did not request privacy on several of my domain names.
Is there a way I can do that with out going thru godaddy at 10 bucks each?

Thanks! :?

I thought about that too, so there isn't a less expensive way then to purchase the privacy option thru godaddy?

if only have a few domains then privatizing your whois would be the way to go. for domainers with hundreds of domains, a p.o. box and voicemail box would be cheaper.

Or you could transfer the domains to name.com - you would get a full year's registration and free privacy for $7.99.

Just as a thought. I myself own several hundred domains, and around 50 running websites. I have never received an unsolicited call or email, every now and again I get one of those letters from the Domain Registry of American () but in all, Ill be honest, I think that unless your starting a porn site, or something that you dont want people to know you own, domain privacy is not all its cracked up to be :imho:

My Opinion

Privacy is important... not to have.

If you are in the business of selling domains, how is someone going to contact you if you have private whois? They can't, and you are out of a job.

In my experience only scammers who set up sites and fake companies use private whois.

You are online and using namepros... your information is already all over the world.. no one cares if it's in the whois of a domain.

Good luck!

So nobody has heard any stories of some weirdo showing up at some ones house after finding personal info on whois? What about identity theft?

Whois has no more information than a regular phonebook already has in it. Phone books have tens of thousands of entries in them.

No, I have not heard of many stories of someone showing up to a house because of their domain name.
