available Prior GreatDomains-Listed Names Are Available!

Thought I'd check archive.org for some old greatdomains.com pages and see if any of the names are available. Sure enough, before they did their huge site/listing policy change, they had some crazy ones listed. Look at some of these prices! A couple of them are nice, but I doubt they were worth what was being asked for them.

I've been sorting through all of the archived pages of the NEW site, and after checking over 1000 names, I'm pretty sure none of them are available.

Nice list there, wouldn't have thought to look in the archive for domains like that; new strategy acquired.

There are some decent ones there, not sure if I will reg any. If I do though, you can expect some NP$ from me

this was back before greatdomains.com had such high standards. now, one of their main criteria to be listed is "We do not list domain names that contain hyphens."

good strategy, nonetheless.

also, i should note that back in 2001, anyone could list a domain at greatdomains.com, rather than the strict verification process they have now. from the 2001 FAQ --

Once you submit your name into your account, you can choose from one of the following placement levels within the Catalog:

Top Level - Receives the most traffic for only $250 per month
Second Level - Appears under a specified category for only $100 per month
Third Level - Appears after a user clicks down through the Top & Second levels. This placement is only $50 per month
Lower Level - Appears at the deepest level of the catalog and this placement is free of charge.*

*The lower level also gives you the option to be placed at the top of the free listings by paying only a minimal $5 per month fee.
