My newly registered domain received a price request at afternic. I didn't have a buy now price there, only a minimum offer $20, cos it was within 60 days and the domain had a buy now price on landing page from
undeveloped.
If I set the buy now price. The transfer might lead to a problem.
If I ignored it. The buyer might feel being ignored? Or They just waited for my reply and then forgot this name.
So what do you usually do?

You will only have a problem in the very rare case that the buyer refuses to accept a push.

Personally, I don't see a problem. It has happened many times in the past to sell a domain before the 60 days pass.

Yes, the buyer refuses push, I meant that. That seems quite often from namepro posts.

Apologies, I didn't get what you meant. I've never ever had an issue with the buyer not accepting a push so I don't have experience with that honestly.

What I'd do though, I'd try to contact the buyer (or ask Afternic's representatives to contact him) and request his patience until the 60 days pass. I think the guys at Afternic always ask that but, just in case, let them know that you are ok with that.

Note that so far, if a transfer is not possible, Afternic always ask me to push the domain to their account and then they handle everything from there. That's actually what I like with Afternic, they totally handle everything which saves me a lot of time :)

Happened to me and it was a nightmare tbh.

The guy didn't want a push at the registrar it was locked at. I waited weeks and finally convinced him to take the name in his account and not wait longer for the transfer out.

If it wasn't for me convincing him to do so (and to follow up so I would get paid because Afternic refused to pay me because of the push complications) I would have had to wait probably about 3 months for my money.

Before you set a price, also reach out to Afternic to get the offer made by the "buyer". This will also give you a sense of what BIN price to set. Also inform Afternic of the transfer lock status of the domain

I guess it was some random curious people click some button from other registrars search bar. If they were serious they would have seen my landing page.

If they didn't want a push or not patient enough to wait until the lock is over then they definitely were not a serious buyer.
I think a serious buyer would have went with a push and transfered out to their preferred registrar once lock was over imo.
Like others said I would try to convince them to at least be patient enough until the lock is over. If not then just move on.
I hope everything works out and you do get a sale. Good luck :xf.smile:

Or they specifically searched for the domain and saw that it required an offer and so they made one which was then presented by Afternic as a price request

I always wait until the 60 day period is over, or almost over, prior to listing on sites like Afternic and Undeveloped. I know this gives up some "selling" time, but it simplifies situations. I do list immediately on things like Namecheap Marketplace, as they handle the push to new owner automatically so no issue.

I hope it resolves itself. I guess it depends on how urgent the new potential owner is to actually use it how patient they might be. They do realize that a push to an account at that registrar does not mean they are locked in to stay here, and that they can set up the DNS so can fully use it in the meantime, no matter where their hosting is? I find many people in general public wrongly think it means you can't use the name in the 60 days.

Afternic listed domains are listed and searchable at a bunch of partners-registrars anyway. One would reasonably guess that in some cases both the buyer and, most notably, selling afternic partner registrar may expect that the domain is eligible to be transferred (not pushed). Which is why it might be more safe to list only domains that are >60 days old (can be transferred). In this particular case, like in other cases, afternic should work with the buyer to accept the push, but it is just inconvinient - more human efforts, potential misunderstanding etc.

Right. I’ll add another sentence to state the name can be used normally at description.
