OK so I know there are other threads like this but I could not find them...

About 2 years ago I sold a domain for $XXXX, just saw the other day that it is dropping...

Anybody had similar experiences?

Had a handful of these, though none into the x,xxx. Highest sale I had where the name dropped a couple years later was $850. It's still available. But it was a TM name, bought by a domainer, so it'll probably never be touched again. Back when TM's were frowned upon but weren't the total hot potato they are now.

Its happened to me. I even pick up domains that previously sold and dropped. Lots of reasons this happens. Sometimes companies only need the domain for a short period of time - advertising purposes - or sometimes things happen where the course of business changes.

Amazing! That shows there are many people who make precipitated decisions when buying domains. That situation may occur when there is a combination of lack of experience or expertise in domaining, money to spend, and big ideas without real roots in reality.

On the same subject, does anybody know where I can get a historical list of all the domain sales on major sites like Sedo, Bido, AfterNIC, etc.?

Yes, I use http://www.dnsaleprice.com/ for checking sales history on major sites like SEDO, Afternic, etc. Currently it seems down but is normally working fine...

I would have done the same. I hate when my drops get picked up but when a sold name purchased for x,xxx and only cost x to renew doesnt get renewed wow
just dont spend all your profits renewing it for another 10+ years :P
dev or sell asap
tho i doubt you will get x,xxx for it again but would be awesome if you do

I am sure I won't get X,xxx again but I figured one year at $8 isnt going to kill me. Also it woudl take over 100 years of renewals to chew up my sale price profit. lol
