domain Presidential Election Names - Appraisals & Discussion

Hypothetically speaking, what is the value of a domain name in the form of (presidential candidate)2008.com? Owens2008.com showed up on my expired name list, and after searching and finding that he could be a frontrunning republican candidate for the 2008 presidency, I got it and BillOwens2008.com.

I'm guessing in general, the best name with regards to a presidential election is (President Candidate's Last Name)(VP Runningmate's Last Name).com as evidenced by the whole KerryEdwards.com craze on Sedo before the last election (offers up to 6-figures if I'm not mistaken). What about (candidate)(Runningmate)2008.com?

Then there's also names like (Candidate)ForPresident.com, which I've also gotten one of a while back, GiulianiForPresident.com. Then, there's the post-election name, President(winner of election).com. What in general are the values of all of these kinds of names during presidential campaigns?

There are potential TM issues involved, and it's never a good idea to invite legal action from politically-motivated groups. This is a fun area to be involved in, so long as it's not strongly for profit. Kerry Edwards held the name because it is his legal name -- that will rarely occur, especially in speculative buying. That being said, there are some good names out there, but I wouldn't invest too heavily. In particular, Owens is hampered by previous legal issues, and although he is a good politician, he lacks the political capital to make a serious run.

thats right..you might have copyright issues. but sometimes, if your asking price is not too high compared to what it'll cost the other party to get a lawyer, they might just settle.

Last December I picked up Giuliani-McCain.com and GiulianiCampaign.com, among others. Not sure they'll be worth anything now...
