IMO the Sedo auctions of 58 PREMIUM .mobi names will really be a big "spark" (ala Jeremyp)...

If I'm correct "Roses.mobi" will be first and will be on February 14, 07.

Sedo.com has announced they will be auctioning off 58 premier reserved .mobi domains starting February 14. According to an item in their monthly newsletter that went out to customers today, names to be put on the block include Music.mobi, Photos.mobi and Theaters.mobi. The .mobi registry conducted its first auction of reserved domains with great success at the the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East auction in Florida in October. The highlight from that event was the $200,000 sale of Flowers.mobi. It will be interesting to see if Music.mobi or Photos.mobi can eclipse that high water mark.

Sedo to Auction Premium .Mobi Domain Names
.Mobi is off to a roaring start thanks to the future of internet-enabled mobile devices. Sedo has announced an agreement to auction 58 premium .mobi domain names that were reserved by the .mobi registry, mTLD / dotMobi.

Among the .mobi domain names to be auctioned by Sedo include Wine.mobi, Autos.mobi, Clubs.mobi, ATM.mobi, Pizza.mobi, Dentist.mobi, Music.mobi, Photos.mobi and Roses.mobi. The first auction will be for Roses.mobi and will launch on Valentines’ Day.

The announcement was also showcased in a January 10th post at DNJournal.com...

While I understand your frustration, I can say simply that we had
exploratory discussions with Sedo but nothing had been finalized. Sedo
accidentally released a statement; however, there is no current auction
planned with Sedo.

We chose not to address this with "names" in our blog entry because this
story was only released to a select group of Sedo customers and was done
so without malice.

I thank you for your understanding and have also cc'd Sedo's CEO, Tim
Schumacher, so he is aware of your concerns.

Again, thank you for support of -- and excitement about -- the .mobi

Another thing I should mention is that a rumor appeared on some domain industry news sites last week about an upcoming online auction of dotMobi Premium Names in February. Unfortunately, that is not true and no online auction is planned for February. Any auction (or allocation via other methods) of any dotMobi Premium Names will always be announced officially by dotMobi and will be viewable at http://dotmobi.mobi

This is a relief. It would be disappointing to see names such as Music.mobi & Photos.mobi fall into the wrong hands and be parked for the next few years. I feel the RFP process would be the best option for names of this quality.
