.mobi Sedo Premium List Auctions

A list of 58 premium .MOBI domains will be auctioned at Sedo on February 14th. This auction will feature ultra premium .MOBI domains, that are sure to sell for record-breaking prices. Some of the gems you can find music.mobi, photos.mobi, citymaps.mobi and clubs.mobi.

Just read this in an email from Sedo. Some of the names are excellent ones. It will be interesting to see how things go on these auctions when they kick off.

Although we will see massive sales I'm not too sure I like this. These names need to be developed, not bought so they can be parked.

True, but it's quite likely that the end users will be willing/able to bid higher than the speculators, right? So odds are fairly good that if awareness of the auctions is high enough, they'll fall into the "right" hands...

I'll be interested to see how "ATM" does, as I have "ATMMachine" and "ATMMachines." Or "Wine" -- I've got a number of wine domains as well...

Can they be assured - in advance of these auctions - that .MOBI will be the default extension in a mobile web? :gl:

Or, do you think it'll just be the usual suspects involved in these auctions ... and ultimately purchasing, and then parking, these .MOBI domains?

Especially with all of the iPhone hype right now...every news station and radio station was doing a report on those things today.

I understand your concerns, but I don't think of the Sedo auctions as being much different than the TRAFFIC auctions. In fact, it opens it up more, I think -- a company doesn't have to attend (or have a buyer for them at) the conference to be able to bid.

Very true. It will be quite exciting to see these names up for auction. I can't imagine what kinds of bids something like Music.mobi will get.

Keep in mind that the leadership of 1-800 Flowers (Flowers.com) placed a $190,000 bid for Flowers.mobi at the October TRAFFIC when .mobi was not on the public's radar....end users will play & purchase at the Sedo auctions and future TRAFFIC auctions.

One of my goals has been to have a transaction show up in DNJournals weekly sales...I'll have one in next week...but sure am glad I beat these .mobi's cause they wil take up the list those weeks (bought a .org and they share the same box)
