I encourage whomever buys this domain, that they DO NOT pay via paypal or any quick online payment companies. It is always good to use escrow when dealing with large sums of money.

Lately, especially with online domain auction sites, Sellers ask for you to buy and pay via paypal, and simply disapeer.

Paypal has no support, if the seller takes your money, and you file a claim, Paypal has no legal rights or obligations to get your money back. (especially after a 30 day period) I learned about this the hard way.

And as for the seller... Also be aware when useing paypal, Since a domain is not an actual good, If the buyer pays you, and you transfer the domain... the buyer is givven the right to file a claim, and if you cant prove a tracking number, the money is then automatically sent back to the buyer without your concent. Im sure there are ways to prove it, but if im not mistaken, you have 7 days to do so... if you are out of town, ect ect... then you are also out of luck.

I just thought this was something worth mentioning... Please be advised :)

Last time I saw this in a thread, the asking price was $600,000. I think it was on eBay not too long ago, too.

Awesome domain, definitely worth the $600k. If I have it, I will negotiate the deal too.

Not wanting to go too OT here, but I thought that PayPal is on the seller's side when it comes to intangible items and services, which it's hard to prove were/were not delivered, in which case the buyer is out of luck if the seller is dodgy. This was just my understanding.

Hey guys, this is in danger of thread crashing the original topic. Maybe a better idea to discuss the merits/pros and cons of purchasing a high value domain through paypal / escrow in a new thread eh??

collieri ....Yes, it would be a good idea to start a new thread except it was about this thread, why would i make a new thread that people who are looking at this domain will most likely not see.

I also think that pp.com would sell for further more off namepro, so indangering his potential sales is not an issue. Im simply informing both sellers and buyer to PREVERNT a fraudulant act. AND just to let you know collieri, you are not an admin, and noone is going to like you more for pointing this issue out either, so keep to your own business... to let you know, I was PMed by LucasF in THANKS for this information...

Only post if you have questions about the sale, or are interested in the name. If we follow these simple rules ... it helps to build a better "community" for all of us.

Not my rules, dont wanna be an admin, dont care if im liked or not and "my business" in this thread appears as relevant as yours is... i.e. irrelevant. So might it be a good idea if both you and i leave this chap to sell his domain in peace..

And you'll notice the tone of my comments were general, not targeted towards anyone
and merely meant to inform mis-informed others of the rules that Jeff has stipulated in his sticky...

Please be advised that commentary unrelated to a potential interest in a sale, that might be deemed harmful to the sale is not welcome. Especially the part in your second post where you doubt such a sale would happen on Namepros. Then what are you doing here, waiting for the cents and pennies?

As for your advice against using paypal to ...submit $600k - it makes sense as Paypal's limit is $10k.

Posting in this thread about the discussion i brought up is done... you both seem to be breaking the rule you are trying to enforce.

I am starting a new thread in the domain descussion section so we CAN let this seller do his business.

To set things straight... I didnt once doubt the sale of this domain in NP... I simply suggested that you would get more selling off NP to an end user (thank you very much Radistar)

Sorry for any problems this may have caused... was only trying to help :tu:

Reguards To Paypal Discussion In Pp.com Thread

This post is in reguards to the pp.com sales thread. A discussion broke out that i felt was neccessary to carry over to the discussion section... The original thread is here >>> http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?p=391039#post391039

A Wrap up of what is going on...

MY FIRST POST IN REGUARDS TO A PP.COM SALES THREAD...

then RADiSTAR says

Please be advised that commentary unrelated to a potential interest in a sale, that might be deemed harmful to the sale is not welcome. Especially the part in your second post where you doubt such a sale would happen on Namepros. Then what are you doing here, waiting for the cents and pennies?

As for your advice against using paypal to ...submit $600k - it makes sense as Paypal's limit is $10k.

NOW..my reply to you both...

First of all, breaking the rules in which you are trying to enforce. Both of you. Telling me and debating with me that I am trashing a thread causes wrong doing from yourselves.

seccond, my comment was only in good faith to help people so they dont get stuck in a situation like I did. It was not negative twords the thread, nor did it affect potential sales.

collieri i appologize, i just wanted you to be aware that my intentions were not to harm the thread, just help those involved.

I must bring up the fact that the creator of this thread PMed me in thanks for my help in the thread, and that the comment was appriciated.

RADiSTAR, i would like to start by saying your quotes are completely false, and i suggest you reread what i said... I in no way "doubt such a sale would happen on Namepros." I simply said that such a domain would sell for more off namepro to an end buyer.

ALSO... again, reread what you wrote because the comment about the 600K was not made by me.
"As for your advice against using paypal to ...submit $600k - it makes sense as Paypal's limit is $10k."

You also suggested that since i "doubt such a sale would happen on Namepros." that i should not be on namepro? I think that comment was completly unnessisary in the fact that it had nothing to do with my posting. My posting was to warn people about fraudulant acts via Paypal, it was then assumed i did not support the seller. If i wasnt completely interested in this domain, (which im not due to the cost) does that mean i dont belong on namepros, just because i may not be a high roller like you? I take pride in the "cents and pennies" that i do collect, and i am certain every person, weither they buy expensive domains or not, deserves to take place in this forum.

Plese feel free to respond ANYONE...... I do feel as if this got out of hand, as i dont think anythin was ment to offend. I do however think that the posting i made was very neccessary, and that since the seller appriciated this information, there was no wrong doing in my part. There would have been no discussion if one was not created by other NP'ers. Advice that is not set AGAINST the domain should not be taken to offence, and those who were involved could have simply taken in the advice and use it to thier advantage, or simply PM instead of CAUSING a discussion in a sales forum.

Anyone... Please feel free to post!!!

when i saw that thread, I thought that a sale would never go through, but it looks like something will be sold. Interesting...

but do you think it was wrong in the sense that the seller PMed me?

I cannot speak as the owner of PP.com (I wish I was!! :o), but if it was my thread, I wouldnt really want anybody providing any comments on the transaction, sale or payment in general.

Although the comments in PP.com were not in bad faith, it still distracts from the sale slightly. I have seen threads like that turn into full scale war before, with the seller just left puzzled how overnight an innocent sales thread has turned into a flame war.

No harm meant on anybodies side here, though :tu:

And there you have it from the Man himself. This is a standard rule in just about every domain forum. Debate over.

Apparently, in your mind it wasn't, since you "would love to hear what people have to say". You were wrong. Period. End of story. Now it's over.
