.tv Possible Future for Scotland.TV 'maybe aye, maybe naw'

I was watching the news today when something Really stood out to me:
Scotland 'needs national channel'

After reading this the main thing that came to my mind was 'These guys are the ideal owners of Scotland.tv'

'Up to £75m of public money should be spent on a new, high-quality Scottish TV channel, it has been recommended.
The Scottish Broadcasting Commission said the not-for-profit digital operation would fill a "missing piece of the public service jigsaw".
The commission, set up by the Scottish Government, also called on the BBC to review its commissioning policy for Scottish programmes.
And it said some broadcasting powers should also be devolved to Scotland.'

Maybe they will never come wanting Scotland.tv as part of this new jigsaw but in my biased view it would fit perfect for such a move. I'll make contact with these guys soon & just let them know i am here and i'm more that happy to become as rich as Stoneroses (thought id add that Bob!)
Link

Before anyone complains that this is not strictly .tv related, yeah your right but it could be Scotland.tv related so i thought id share with you all.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Well there's definitely not a more suitable name for them than Scotland.TV. I'd make contact and see if you can bring your retirement forward a few years!

I want to retire by 30 so they better not waste too much time in setting this up!!
I will Email them at least to make contact & ask to be kept in touch.

I dont really try and sell Scotland.tv as i still dream of developing it but life never works out as simple as that, i've been far too busy with work to even consider developing it as i'd hate to do it without full commitment & mess up. Even though i hope of developing, i need to keep my eyes & ears open to the chance of a possible sale so this news reallys tood out to me.

BBC covers all of UK, love it or hate it - Scotland is covered by BBC with BBC Scotland.

And yeah us Scots spend all day playing scrabble. :o

You could hold onto this name for another 10 years and still come out as the winner. The name has development written all over it - and I am sure that at one stage, a big player in the TV industry up North will come asking about it.

I would say its definately worth contacting the people you mention and let them know about the name. Even in this day and age, there are still some people who think the internet comprises of just .com. As an alternative to selling the name - you could also think about renting it out ( at $250 a year for the renewals this is well worth hanging onto for as long you can !! )

Good luck and keep us all updated.

Alex

Just seen the news report on the main BBC national news. The Scots want their own TV channel - although it was conveniently forgotten that Scottish TV, BBC Scotland, Grampian TV, Border TV, even BBC Alba (the gaelic language channel) are already mainstays of the Scots television landscape. And that's before the hundreds of UK-wide TV channels are put in the mix.

I personally think you should push Scotland.Tv like crazy at the moment. OK, It means travelling to Edinburgh to lobby the politicians, but hey, you could be the person bringing TRUE internet TV to Scotland - at a far reduced cost than the idea at the moment (which is purely for a 'normal' TV channel.

I recently acquired Scot.TV (and also have a large number of Scottish TV names) so would be interested in working with you to make representation to the relevant MSPs.

This is a VERY exciting possibility.

Is this how you find all those great domain names?
Seriously, you have a great multi-purpose name with Scotland.tv (travel, business, sports, TV, etc, etc). This is one of those domains that a buyer will eventually approach you and make an offer you cannot refuse. ;)

It is exciting news but i'm not at the presenting to MP's stage :!: It does sound like Scotland.tv would be ideal for their plans so i'll let them know i'm here and willing to talk but its at a very early stage so i'll leave it at that.

'Make me an offer i cannot refuse'
Is that a Mafia style threat?? ;)

I am sure i'll be made a big money offer for Scotland.tv one day but i really dont expect it to be anytime soon. I can happily hold this & all my .tv's forever with no hassle so i have the time to wait on buyers looking for me.

I hope you did not take offence at my humor Ronnie, or attempted humor! Seriously though, i think you hold a very good domain, that will only increase in price over time. I was just a bit shocked that Scotland dose not have it's own TV network.

Well today i read an interesting article on how far behind Australia is with internet broadband speed, and that Asia, particularly Japan singapore and South Korea are now on the verge of internet TV. Quote, "Asia is on it's way to having internet television - 40-50 per cent of the US consumers are OK (for internet TV) but not ideal. In Japan, it is happening already. Full motion - from video to cell phone."

And the article goes on to say that TV on the internet is 5 years away as mainstreem content. the only thing currently holding it back are two things, Internet broadband speed, and technology. It appears that Japan has overcome these two hurdles already, so it appears TV online is already here, and only going to get bigger.

Push it to these guys and dont forget to give a cut to the former owner once you make that million dollar sale :hehe:

Cant believe I sold this name D-:

Scotland is really really really in dire need of its own dedicated network. I dont think I can take much more of programmes such as "Cash in the Attic" about a chappy from England wanting to move to the countryside :imho:
Nothing has been done until now since the London government *shakes fist in blind rage* holds most of the broadcasting powers and they couldn't give a monkeys!
