Thats one more record broken and good news for the .com market as a whole.

Seems like a heck of a start to what can sometimes be a quieter period for sales looking through your list!

LA Times report

The sale got coverage in the LA Times:

Moniker obviously took delight in releasing this now - one month out from its Live TRAFFIC auction in New York. That should be one interesting auction. I wouldn't be surprised if .com names don't go through the roof in that auction.

The other fascinating thing is the sale price of some of the .COM names sold by Moniker. There were names that I wouldn't consider as being anything special selling for tens of thousands of dollars. I wouldn't have regarded InstantApprovals.com $60,000, SaleByOwners.com $50,000, ForYourEyesOnly.com $22,500 and SocialWorkJobs.co.uk $10,744 as anything to write home about. And what about BeautyMark.com for $32,000 and MobileLove.com for $30,445? I've got much better .COM names than that! The real doozy was FutureBazar.com with one a in "bazar" selling for $15,000. Guy, am I missing something with this name? Am I missing something with all of them? These sales will no doubt drive the Live auction.

I think we are about to see each of the TLDs get one heck of a kick along.

Here's the Moniker press release which mentions some of the generic dot coms for auction at TRAFFIC in June:

It's also talking about two auctions (in June and July) in Florida. My understanding is there was only to be one auction in Miami in August. They must have plenty of prime dot com stock they want to flog.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Moniker, the first and only provider of Domain Asset Management(TM) services, today announced the sale of the domain name Porn.com for an amount in excess of US $9.5 million to MXN Ltd., an Internet media and investment firm affiliated with DOWNLOADPASS.com. Complete terms of the transaction were not fully disclosed.

The sale is the largest all-cash domain transaction in history. It is the second largest domain sale overall after Sex.com, which sold for reportedly US $12 million in cash and stock during a private sale in January 2005.

"The sale of Porn.com further reinforces the growing trend of businesses that place a high strategic value on generic domains related to their industry," said Monte Cahn co-founder and chief executive officer of Moniker.com. "Porn.com will prove to be a valuable asset for MXN Ltd. because of its significant number of daily visitors, established type-in traffic in addition to being the top domain in the adult industry."

At the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. West Live Auction in March 2007 in Las Vegas, bidding on the domain fetched offers originally in the US $7 million range. Moniker has continued working with interested parties to broker the sale of the domain this week.

With thousands of unique visitors a day, plans to develop Porn.com were not immediately available. Porn.com has been managed by PremiumTraffic.com, a leading parking and monetization company. The buyer intends on leaving Porn.com with PremiumTraffic.com until such time as they develop the domain.

Industry Leader Continues to Shatter Records

Moniker and Monte Cahn have successfully brokered a variety of million dollar domain name sales at recent domain name auctions including Cameras.com which sold for $1.5 million at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East 2006 in Hollywood, Fla. and Scores.com for $1.2 million at Casino Affiliates Convention Amsterdam 2007. In addition, Moniker brokered the industry's first domain name sale for over $1 million dollars (Wallstreet.com) and the first $2 million dollar plus domain sale (Autos.com).

Premium, Generic Domain Names On The Auction Block At The Inaugural T.R.A.F.F.I.C. New York

Moniker, the pioneer of the Live and Silent domain name auction, will hold its highest profile Live Domain Auction ever at the upcoming T.R.A.F.F.I.C. New York on June 19-22, 2007 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Some of the premium, generic domain names on the auction block include:

-- Bourbon.com
-- Horseracing.com
-- Student.com
-- Naked.com
-- Cardiology.com
-- Elections.com
-- DSL.com
-- Amstersdam.com
-- BroadwayShows.com
-- Ethanol.com
-- Locals.com
-- Union.com
-- Estate.com
-- Musicians.com
-- Scotland.com

Additional auctions will also be held at the July Affiliate Summit in Miami and the August Internext in Hollywood, Fla. Domain owners interested in selling their names at auction should contact Moniker at [email protected].
