I don't know who is right, they may be the same. I have not analyzed the data particularly with snapnames. But I did some work with the POOL list most recently. I took the POOL list for this past friday 1/5 analyzed it on Saturday. EVERY ONE OF THE DOMAINS WERE REGISTERED (EXCEPT FOR 5 or so which were obvious TM infringements). It's very hard to believe that 30,000+ domains were back ordered. I'm certain POOL automatically registers the ones on there list, regardless of backorders or not. Releases the ones without backorders after 5 days. I would guess the same is true with SNAP.
So, My suggestion to get domains without paying the 60$++ fee (If they are still available) is;
1) Get a FULL PendingDelete list for a given day for deletes that day.
2) check availability at 4pm EST. (%99 of the domains will be taken)
3) check availability in 5 days (%85 of the domains will be available)
I'm always looking for good traffic domains, unfortunately they are usually taken by the time i see them. Traffic domains are easy to spot before hand via automatic processes, these people spend the $60 to backorder. HOWEVER, I can tell you from experience, there are more then a dozen a day i see that are real good domains that an automated process would not find. This takes looking at this lists domain, by domain.
The lists that POOL and SNAP NAMES use are for domains with a STATUS of "PendingDelete". Keep in mind, NOT ALL domains go to the status of PendingDelete before thay are deleted. A domain can be deleted anytime without a status change.
