I am new at this, so if anyone can tell me this is normal, or not, then that would be awesome..

I found a domain yesterday I liked while searching the pending deletes list at pool that was deleting the next day (the delete day is today).

I backordered though pool, snapnames & namejet.

Now the statuses:

Namejet: "Activity on this domain is temporarily locked while awaiting the auction to begin" with pending deletion status.

Pool: "Domain deletes on 2010-02-05" & "Added on 2010-02-05"

Snapnames: "Status: High Bid" & "High Bidder: You" and I am bidding against "regularnames," the only other bidder. We both have the same initial bids, but for some reason I am the high bidder. Also, 2.5 hours left in this auction.

Question:

1) Did pool, snapnames, or namejet catch the drop?
2) If Snapnames got it, and I am bidding against this guy and we have the same bid, should I bid more even though I am listed as highest bidder?
3) Is this the normal process?

Again, I am new at bidding on domains - stepping up from regging fresh domains from godaddy :), if that was not enough info then let me know.

well it might be going to a multiple bidder auction, so you better be ready to open your wallet, and some prices people bid up will amaze you.

Thanks wwwweb for your response.

I made a mistake, it had 2.5 days left, not hours.

The only email I got was from Snapnames saying they acquired it, and I still have 1.5 days left at this point in the auction.

If no one had bid for it then automatically I would have gotten it. Since someone did bid on it it went to auction. I'm wondering if regularnames is a creation of snapnames to squeeze more money from buyers. I've read things about them, lawsuits and all, and there is even a user on these boards warning about this user.

Live and learn, I'll see what happens..

yea i know everytime he appears in my auctions too, who is he? I don't think snapnames would be that stupid at this point, I have heard that name around the boards as well...has to make anyone nervous when bidding.

I had 'regularnames' in an auction as well. Be sure not to have a 'Maximum Bid' amount set. Otherwise, he might outbid you until you get close to the Maximum Bid you have set.

Don't worry about it. He's not going to outbid you.

I believe regularnames is the new Halvarez.
