Description:

Summary: Poker Sharks Online operates as a poker affiliate website. It receives commission based on the amount of rake players generate. (20-25%) of the total MGR. Each month PSO receives a rake affiliate payment. Off of that I generally give players signed up under my account about 60-70% of that amount (as an incentive to play) although you could return any or none of that.

Status: The site is largely completed and has been operating for 4 months. MANY broken links and incomplete pages exist, but the main crucial pages are set to go. I have already signed up over 20 players under the site through advertising and typing the site link in various online poker room chat boxes. Someone with good marketing/advertising skills could easily turn this into a $1,000 per month site. (Already at 200-500$) CURRENT PLAYER BASE WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW OWNER!

Ownership: Everything on the site is 100% unique and custom built. All logos, images and text are fully owned.

Notables:
-Liscense Newsletter Program included ($80)
-Live News/Article Feed Script included ($40)
-Paid Traffic ($50 worth of traffic left - will likely run out by early April)
-Blog branch site www.pokersharksonline.com/blog
(I wrote those articles which get fed into the main page) The blog is obviously also yours...its nothing special

Reason for Selling: I have little time to update or manage the site. I started it in October 06 and realized how little time I have to spend on this outside of my busy schedule work/family etc. Id rather turn this over to someone that could develop it into something larger. I truly believe it has the makings of something big...

Price: I'm not really sure of a fair price at the moment. I do know that I have put in hundreds of hours developing the site. I also know that the site makes a minimum of $200 a month (up to $500) with the potential of much more to someone with great marketing skills. Please factor these points into your bids. All fair bids will be considered but I cant promise anything....

You may be asking why the BIN price is just $4,000 given my trailing 2 months of $1,000 + revenue... Its because I give 60-70% of that back as an incentive for people to sign up through my site (its called rakeback) and its done through transfers on full tilt. It keep the players happy and rakeback actually funds the growth of next months rakeback if you understand what I mean...

Oh and people will likely be asking about the UIGEA law dealing with the online poker ban. It has affected sites like partypoker etc. However my site advertises mainly US based sites like pokerstars, full tilt, ultimate bet, and absolute poker which CAN ACCEPT US PLAYERS. The sites ARE NOT affected by any United States laws nor will they be in the near future since they are not publicly traded companies. You can still market to non US based players regardless of what happens...

Revenue and traffic data will be attached...

Thanks and happy bidding :)
Revenue Details:

The site generates revenue through poker affiliate MGR ... mainly through Full Tilt Poker currently. All current sign ups will be transferred to the owner March 1st. The site also has affiliate accounts set up through other websites like pokerstars, ultimatebet etc. All of these are listed on the main page.

I also recently signed up through amazon's affiliate program to sell books, dvds etc for poker education. I have no sales to date but that feature was just added not more than a week ago...
Traffic Details:

I have some traffic coming in through paid hits. This will be set to run out by around April 1st. I would still expect close to 800 uniques a month even without this paid traffic.

Here is a PM I received from one member, thought it would help out other bidders...

1) Rakeback is cool with full tilt. I do not know the limit on the max % an affiliate can give back as rakeback. I have given 60-70% for the past 3 months without any problems (I dont anticipate there being any)

2)I advertised in other poker sites in the chat boxes (pokerstars, ultimatebet, absolutepoker) I have a bonus code "PSONLINE"
Example message in chat box or email: "For 70% rakeback back each month at Full Tilt Poker, type in bonus code: PSONLINE or visit pokersharksonline.com"

This along with forums posts and the paid hit traffic landed me the 30+ players...

3) I am "calvenkc" in the affiliate report. I will DEFINATELY be playing on full tilt after I sell my site, no doubts. I generate easily over $1000 in MGR myself which translates to $200+ per month. Thats just another reason why Id like to sell the site. Full Tilt doesn't technically permit affiliates to play under their own affiliate/rakeback account...therefore if I sold my site to someone else I could. (Id rather not violate their TOS)

4)I dont know any of the players under my affiliate account except for myself "calvenkc" and "kccalvin" (my wife). I have no idea who "LiquidSmoke" is nor do I know if he will continue playing in the future. From the looks of February statistics his play has decreased dramatically, I would assume because of heavily gambling debt or just losing all his money (burning out). If you throw his account totally out of the picture which isnt likely that still leaves easily $200 per month in net income...

As far as an honest estimate of what my site is worth (near my reserve but will still consider other offers):

A)I paid roughly $1000 in creation expenses. The site was designed by http://nick-davis.com/ - a very talented designer/coder. I don't suspect you could get a CUSTOM site of this caliber for less than $800. (If you can let me know)

B)A VERY conservative estimate of monthly net income of $150 could be used for a trailing earnings multiple. I say somewhere around $300 is more likely... This throws out the outlier of "LiquidSmoke" who seems to be running out or broke based on early February stats.

Earnings Multiple: 6-8 x $200 = $1200 min
$400 custom template design, logo
$500-$600 script, coding,integration, development...

Id arrive at a fair value range of $2000-$2500...but again im not an expert nor do I know what sitepoint members will bid it to. Obviously its what the bidder is willing to pay.

Someone with some decent marketing skills or an "in" to cheap advertising could easily boost the player base several times over...It isnt too difficult. Just talking to people in the chat boxes during table play - dishing out the bonus code "PSONLINE", emails, paid traffic, even word of mouth could land a ton of new players.

I am selling my site because I dont have time to work on it anymore. I expect to be drafted by an MLB team in early June. (I would be gone no the road playing for a minor league club) This could mean I wouldnt have internet access for some time. As you can see I have time constraints already (many pages are incomplete)

Note: The affiliate player base WILL come with the sale. The buyer simply needs to make a player account on full tilt then have the payout option redirected to that individual. Very easy - I will set this part up.

I will post this info in the forum also so its perfectly transparent to other potential buyers...if you dont mind. Some very good questions!

Thanks,
Calven

hey there - couple of questions....

1) is rakeback cool with FullTilt

2) how did you get the word out about your rakeback cut?

3) Are you calvinkc in the reports if so are you going to continue to playunder the new owner?

4) I see liquidsmoke contributed the majority of the rev. Do you know this guy? How do we know he would stay under the new owner?

Thanks -
